PRINCIPAL MESSAGE FROM MRS. TIMM

Greetings Discovery Families,

Discovery staff is looking forward to conferences with students and families to communicate with you about how your child’s school year is going thus far.

Student conferences will take place in classroom spaces. For those who have co-led homebases, students and families will receive communication from the homebase teachers if the location for your conference differs from the scheduled homebase room.

During conferences, goals will be reviewed and homebase teachers will provide updates from the team of teachers your child has. In addition, schedules will be posted outside of classroom doors to inform you of teacher availability. On some occasions, teachers are available between conferences for families to check in.

Conferences will take place on the following dates and times:

Thursday, October 10 (3:30 pm - 7:30 pm)

Monday, October 14 (3:30 pm - 7:30 pm)

Wednesday, October 16 (7:30 am - 11:30 am)

If you have forgotten the time that you are scheduled for conferences, you can refer to ParentVue to confirm the time. If any unforeseen changes are needed, please reach out to the main office and secretaries will support assigning a new time.

Above and Beyond

All students are invited to participate in Above and Beyond after school. Above and Beyond is especially helpful for students who would benefit from a quiet, supportive environment to support completion of assignments or to practice concepts to reinforce learning.

Parents/guardians and students will receive sign up information during the week of October 7. This information will include Above and Beyond expectations that support learners and adult leaders.

Above and Beyond begins on Tuesday, October 22.

When: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:05 pm to 4:15 pm

A/B Schedule Adjustment for Monday, October 21

On Wednesday, October 16, Discovery students do not have school. However, AAHS does have school and will continue with the A/B schedule. This will impact students as they return to school on Monday, October 21. On this date, it will be an A Day, so Discovery students will have 2 “A Days” in a row.

Parent-Principal Connect

We will not be meeting for an October Parent Principal Connect because we are connecting through conferences. Our November Parent Principal Connect information will be coming out soon!
