NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
Celebrating! 🪅
Celebrating the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. These two months are an excellent opportunity for our preschool community to explore and honor the diverse backgrounds of our families and friends. We encourage families to share stories, traditions, and customs from their cultures. let's learn together about the vibrant tapestry of Hispanic heritage
🥁 The 2024 theme is Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together, encapsulating the “spirit of innovation, resilience, and unity that define the Hispanic experience.”
Food is an essential part of culture! We will host a Food Fiesta Day, where families can bring in a dish that represents their heritage. This is a great way to share delicious recipes and learn about different culinary traditions. If you'd like to participate, please let us know what dish you will be bringing. We can't wait to taste the flavors of Hispanic cultures together!
FIRE PREVENTION MONTH
October is Fire Prevention Month! The goal of Fire Prevention Month (and the week of October 6th - 12th) is to raise fire safety awareness and help protect homes and families. In 1922, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) named the second week of October Fire Prevention Week in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire in 1871. Today, we celebrate Fire Prevention Week and Month by spreading fire safety awareness and educating families, students, and communities across the United States with help from our partners and local fire departments. First Alert is the most trusted brand in fire safety* and is dedicated to 'Protecting Life's Moments' and encourages you to gather your family to discuss fire safety awareness. Enjoy the moments and memories you create with your loved ones with peace of mind knowing you're protected.

Please leave them at home. • Gym shoes are required at school! Leave those princess heels at home! • The children will trick-or-treat in the classrooms, so you may send treats to pass out to their friends.

Pumpkin Storybook Character Family Project
We are so excited about extending our learning with this fun fall project!
As you know, we discuss story elements when readings each day. We discuss characters, setting, and key events as we work on reading comprehension and retelling stories.
We would like to invite you and your child to decorate a pumpkin that resembles his/her favorite storybook character. The pumpkins will be judged on October the 25th. We will display these pumpkins for student/staff viewing the weeks of October 21st-October 31, 2024
Check out the Pete the Cat and other storybook pumpkins on Pinterest for fun ideas.
For display purposes, we would like to ask you to bring your child’s pumpkin and corresponding book to school on or before Monday, October 21
We are so excited about this project and hope you and your child have a lot of fun with this!!
