School Expectations
*Students are expected to be in their assigned class at all times. This is how we can ensure students are safe and learning.
*PSEO, Self Directed, and Online Learning students will need to spend this time out of the building or in the library as we do not have enough staff to supervise students in these courses. It is a safety concern when students are not in their designated areas. If students do not adhere to their schedules, they will be given a class so they have a consistent schedule that they can manage.
*No outside food is allowed unless your child would like to bring lunch from home. Como Park Senior High School provides free breakfast and lunch everyday. No food will be accepted that is delivered from Door Dash, GrubHub, etc.
The Homecoming Dance is Friday October 6th from 7:00-10:00. Please review our Dance Expectations.
New 3DE Program Coming to [Como, Washington] in 2024-25
We are excited to announce an innovative program coming to our school in 2024-25. SPPS and Junior Achievement North are partnering to bring a new educational model called 3DE to both Como Park Senior High School and Washington Technology Magnet School. Starting in fall 2024, all 9th-grade students at our school will participate in the 3DE program that brings professionals from high-demand industries into the classroom for project-based learning and case studies. During the current 2023-24 school year, we will work closely with Junior Achievement North to ensure we are prepared to successfully launch the program next fall. Incoming 9th-grade students and families will learn more information about the program during the school choice season this winter. Learn more about this new partnership at spps.org/3DE.

School Information
Como Park Senior High School is a Title I School. In Saint Paul, to be designated as a Title I school, a school must have a concentration percentage of free and reduced lunch eligible students of 40% or more based on the previous year’s October 1 count.
A percentage of the Title I funds at a school are used to support parents in their involvement in their children's education. Schools provide opportunities for parents to learn how to support their children in their school work, to be involved at the school through volunteering and decision making opportunities and they assist parents by removing barriers to being involved.

Hiway Credit Union Branch at Como High School
Back in 2016, Como Park High School and Hiway Credit Union established a partnership by opening a student-run credit union branch within our school, providing students with a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience in managing money. This innovative collaboration provides students with a place to open a bank account, complete with a debit card, at no cost to them. The collaboration also equips students with essential financial literacy skills, empowering them to make informed decisions about money and prepare them for a successful future.
This Hiway Credit Union branch operates in collaboration with Como Park High School. This year, the school branch will operate under the guidance and leadership of Tina Jones. Tina ensures a safe and educational environment and supervises our student, Sophie Warner, who is working as a paid Hiway Student Associate Intern at the school branch.
One of the credit union branch's main objectives is to provide internships for students and promote financial literacy among the Como community. To achieve this, Hiway is also in Como classrooms providing courses on budgeting, credit, basic banking, and a variety of other topics.
The impact of the credit union branch on students’ lives has been remarkable. Many students have reported feeling more confident in managing their finances and making informed decisions about their money. The experience gained through working at the branch has also opened the door for future career opportunities at a credit union. Currently, Hiway has two previous student associates who are now working full-time at the credit union.
The success of Como Park High School’s credit union branch has gained attention from other high schools who have expressed interest in replicating this model. This initiative serves as a shining example of how schools can empower students to take control of their financial futures.
As Como Park High School continues to pave the way for financial education, it is clear that Hiway Credit Union is not just a credit union but also a catalyst for change, transforming the lives of students and shaping a brighter future for the entire Como community.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Hello! My name is Janna (sounds like "Yanna") and I am thrilled to join the incredible educators and administrators at Como Park High School as an ELL teacher.
I have a bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master's in Teaching from Hamline University.
I assume brilliance and purpose in each and every one of our students, and my mission as an educator is to help lift them into their highest aspirations.
I am also an educational entrepreneur, and for the past two decades, I have been teaching writing for social-emotional literacy and personal development through my business, The Art of Life and Writing. This led me to the University of Minnesota where I teach Personal Leadership as an adjunct professor.
When I am not teaching, I am hanging out with my two teenagers, Oliver and Lucianna, my three dogs, or writing in coffee shops throughout the Twin Cities.

Great Color Guard support to the Winslow Farm Tractor and Car Show / Parade near the farmlands of Stillwater Minnesota. Patrons were astonished that Como Park's cadets led by Cadet First Lieutenant Flores were cadets from Como Park High School and not real U.S. Marines. Ooh RaH.
