From Mr. Sachtleben's Desk...
It has been an outstanding start to our school year here at Sells! We have stressed the idea of patience and that slow and steady wins the race. I am certain by the middle of next week our students will begin to demonstrate they understand the bell schedules, know where their classes are located, manage their locker and know our lunch procedures. I encourage our parents to have those conversations with their child about what they have enjoyed so far and what is a challenge to them. Together we can help them overcome those challenges!
I also wanted to take the time to remind parents that during the school day, our students are expected to keep their backpacks and cell phones in their locker. This is a building-wide initiative as we believe the backpacks tend to get unorganized and take up space in the classroom and the cell phones are a distraction. Our District is in full support of the cell phone initiative as we work to align ourselves with the bill Governor DeWine signed into law that makes schools create practices where students have limited access to their phones. Thank you for your support with this and for talking this through with your student!
Please never hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. Our partnership only strengthens the success your child achieves here at school! My email address can be found below.
We hope you all have a great weekend! Next week is our first full 5-day week! Rest up!
Matt
Appropriate Attire for School
I am asking parents for their support in making sure ALL students are meeting the expectations of the dress code policy as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct. We realize the warmer weather is still with us, but students need to dress appropriately for school. Thank you for everyone's efforts with this. We appreciate the support in creating an environment conducive to student learning!

Open House - August 20 starting @ 6:00pm
Please consider joining us for our Open House next Tuesday! You will have the opportunity to meet your student's Team of teachers, our approach to academic support and you will meet your child's Related Arts Teachers.
We will release the format and schedule on Monday evening. Thank you for considering joining us for this event!
6th Graders and Chromebooks
Today our 6th graders received their chromebooks. There was definitely excitement among the students today! Please note that all students must adhere to the acceptable use policy of the District and the chromebook agreement that you signed when you updated your child's information in Infinite Campus.
Here are few quick ideas that parents can help us with now that the students have a chromebook:
- Please remind your child to charge their chromebook each night so they are ready to use it at school.
- The protective cover that is in place on the chromebook can NOT be removed.
- When students use their school email, they can only email other students in the District or members of the teaching staff. NO outside email addresses will be recognized (and parents will not be able to email their child either).
- At any time there is an issue with the chromebook, students should bring the device to the Library in order to bring this to the attention of our Media Specialist.
- A $50 technology fee has been added to your PaySchools account. This must be paid each year the student has possession of the chromebook.
- Students are expected to take good care of their device!
Thank you all for helping your child understand the importance of taking care of this equipment as well as understanding the importance of the proper use of the different applications they will have access to throughout the school year.

ACTION REQUIRED! Time for Annual Updates!
Before the start of each school year, families must complete the Annual Update. Items that can be confirmed or changed as part of the Annual Update include street address, phone number, email, and emergency contacts. Parents will also acknowledge our district handbooks, student code of conduct, and technology/network use agreements during the Annual Update process.
STEPS
To access the Annual Update, please follow steps 1-7 below.
Log-in to Infinite Campus Parent Portal
Click “More” in the Main Menu or “Annual Update” under district announcements
Select “Online Registration Update”
Click “24-25 (Current School Year) Existing Student Registration.” Please make sure you select Existing Student Registration, not New Student.
Under Action, click “Start”
Click “Begin Registration”
Fill out your back-to-school forms
THINGS TO NOTE
- For best results, complete the Annual Update from a computer or tablet.
- A change of address requires two proofs of residency. A list of acceptable residency documents can be found on our Enrollment Required Documentation page.
Thank you for completing this very important back-to-school process. The information gathered as part of the Annual Update supports the efficient operation of our district and is critical regarding our ability to communicate with parents in the event of an emergency.
