DMIS Morgan Messenger
Week of Monday, November 18th - Friday, November 22nd
Dear DMIS Families,
This week has been chilly but busy here at DMIS! We had several visitors from Central Office stop by to see all the hard work our students are putting into their reading and math blocks. It was wonderful to show off their efforts and the incredible learning happening every day.
Interim Progress Reports
We are officially halfway through Quarter 2! Hard copies of interim progress reports will be sent home with students on November 18th. As a reminder, parents can check their child’s grades at any time through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you need assistance with your account, please contact the school office.
Parent Advisory - November 20
Our next Parent Advisory meeting will take place at 5:00 PM on November 20th. The evening will begin with a short student performance, followed by presentations from our department leaders about what reading, math, and science look like in the classroom. We’ll also share strategies to support student learning at home. We hope to see you there!
STAMP Testing for Dual Language Students
This week, our 5th-grade dual language students will participate in the STAMP test. This language proficiency assessment evaluates students’ Spanish skills in speaking, writing, reading, and listening. Testing will take 2–3 hours, spread throughout the week, and results will help guide how we continue to support and enhance our dual language program.
Car Loop Reminders
With colder weather here, it’s a great time to review our car loop procedures:
- Please stay in your vehicle and follow the map provided to ensure a safe, quick process.
- All cars in the loop should empty/load, regardless of location within the loop, to allow the next group to fill.
- Parking lots on the Daniel Morgan Campus are closed during arrival (7:50–8:15 AM) and dismissal (3:00–3:30 PM). Any vehicles parked during these times will be asked to move.
These steps are in place to keep everyone safe and to maintain smooth traffic flow. Thank you for your cooperation!
Lost and Found
As the weather gets colder, we’ve noticed more coats being left behind around the building and outside. Items collected are placed in the lost and found located in both the 5/6 gym and the 7/8 gym. Adding names to coats and other belongings helps us return items to their owners. If your child is missing something, please encourage them to check during the school day.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our school run smoothly. Have a wonderful weekend!
Warm regards,
Sam Gates
Principal
