LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Dolphin Families,
This past Wednesday, we had the privilege of celebrating our 8th grade students at the Be Respectful Assembly, where several students were honored for the many ways they uplift and show respect in our community.
We also kicked off our second session of Out of School Time this week with exciting new activities and opportunities – details are below. And to start March, we launched our Women’s History Month raffle, honoring the incredible women who have made a lasting impact.
We are excited for all that’s ahead this month!

Author Nic Stone visits Denny and Sealth on March 12!
The Denny and Sealth libraries are thrilled to announce that NYT best-selling author Nic Stone will be visiting to talk to our students on Wednesday, March 12 about her newest book, Dear Manny. The event will take place from during 6th and 7th periods; interested students must get a permission slip signed to be excused from their classes. Extra permission slips can be found in the library or your student’s ELA class. Students and families have the option to buy a copy of Dear Manny at the event for $22.01 with card, cash or check made out to Third Place Books but it is in no way required to attend. If students are able to stay after school, they will have the opportunity to get their book signed. If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Risi at karisi@seattlechools.org.

"This SBIRT newsletter is focused on how you as parents and caregivers can support your teen's healthy relationships. Last year, 26% of SPS 8th and 9th graders had already begun to date romantically and 4% experienced relationship problems. This webinar will include a panel of experts discussing parents’, teens’, and preteens’ digital technology and social media use and its relation to mental health. Panel members will be asked to discuss current patterns of social media use by parents and youth, and share about the potential for both positive and detrimental effects of social media, including the role of technology and social media in supporting social connectedness and awareness, while also contributing to mental health challenges. Panelists will suggest approaches to social media use that incorporate mindfulness and support well-being.
