Google Authenticator – why should you use it?

Google Authenticator App Coming in January!

Due to the recent spike in cyber hacks to neighboring schools, we will be adding an extra layer of security to your Google account through two-factor authentication (2FA), where it generates a unique, time-sensitive code on your phone app that you need to enter alongside your password when logging in. This will make it significantly harder for hackers to access your accounts even if they have your password because they would also need physical access to your phone to get the code.

Google MFA Implementation Update

We are already using Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to secure our Microsoft accounts, and Google MFA will function in a similar way. Currently, we are testing the Google Authenticator App with a group of staff members from each campus, which includes teachers. These staff members will receive an email containing instructions, and we will follow up to ensure a smooth process before we launch it for all users in January. Additionally, we will offer brief training sessions at each campus during our staff development day on January 6th to assist you with this transition.
