HAVE A GREAT FALL BREAK!🍂🍁🦃
Weaving science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics into daily instruction using hands on learning and exploration! Our vision: All students grow to become critical thinkers, problem solvers and confident global citizens who positively impact our world. Franklin Elementary STEAM Magnet-Home of Innovators, Scholars and Leaders!
To ensure the safety of all our students, staff, and community members, we kindly ask everyone to follow traffic safety laws during drop-off and pick-up times.
Please remember:
- Do not double-park when dropping off or picking up your child, as this creates unsafe conditions and blocks traffic for others.
- If you would like to walk your child into campus, please park in a designated parking area and walk in safely.
- Utilize our Franklin Ambassadors and Safety Patrol for assistance. They are here to help safely guide students onto campus.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep Franklin a safe place for everyone.

CPMA 2025-26 Enrollment and School Presentations
Even though the Choice window for enrollment has closed, CPMA is still accepting student applications throughout the year. For any parents who'd like to sign up and begin the admissions process, they can go to the following admissions website at https://www.cpmaauditions.com/
Please feel free to pass this info on to any parents of students who may be interested in the arts. And be sure to check out our website to learn more about us.
If we haven't had a chance to visit your school yet for a presentation, you can email me at scoolican@sandi.net and I'd be happy to come in for a visit.
The PTA is forming a Family Engagement / Events Committee, and we would love your ideas and (self-) nominations for a Committee Chairperson, Events Committee members, or even folks who will sign up to be general volunteers for the PTA. You can also email us at email us at FranklinSDPTA@gmail.com if you can help with any of these things, so we can spread the love that makes our school so awesome!
We are so appreciative of all the volunteers who have made our events possible so far this year. We have three upcoming planned events, and stay tuned for more news and dates after our next Executive Meeting on November 7th. Here’s what’s currently coming up:
- December 17th, Winter Program Evening 1featuring Kindergarten classes (Paredes, Duncan, Arvizu), 4th & 5the grades (Ee, Singleton), and 2nd & 3rd Grades (Atallah, Ramirez, Carter)
- December 19th, Winter Programs Winter Program Evening 2
- featuring 5th grade (Froehbrodt), 1st grades (Pina, Niskey), 3rd grades (Cassin, French) & UTK (Markel, Pazik)
- December 16th-th, Winter Teacher Appreciation Week (Need Lead)
Membership Matters
Ok, well this is kind of embarrassing but we need your help. We really need you to become a member of the PTA this year. Having a strong membership allows us to keep bringing exciting and fun programs to the school, raise money and awareness about how parents can support their children in school, and be taken seriously when we speak to district, city, county and state agencies about the challenges facing our school. If the membership fee is a barrier, please complete our PTA Member Due Scholarship Form, and a generous corporate sponsor will cover your dues!
Despite all the amazing energy and excitement this year, we still have not reached our membership goal. Please help us now if only so we can take out this request from future newsletters.
We need all students, parents, teachers, and interested community members to join our PTA so we can advocate with a unified voice on the most important issues facing our students and families!
We'd love to hear from you! Connect with us on Facebook or Instagram, or email us at FranklinSDPTA@gmail.com to tell us what’s on your mind, how you want to get involved, or what you wish was *even better* about our school!
*Note: Family Wednesday is a chance for parents to tour their students’ classrooms and see the students actively learning from 8:20-8:50 am four times a year in September, October, January & March.
Special Education
SPECIAL EDUCATION (IEP & 504) ACCESS IN PARENT PORTAL
Effective Monday, December 2, 2024, parents will be able to access their student’s active Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 plan through the Parent Portal. This addition enhances the many features available on the Parent Portal. It also presents an excellent opportunity to encourage greater participation in the Parent Portal, especially as more digital applications are being integrated. School sites can direct families to the Parent Portal Resource Website in the Forms category of the Help tile for assistance.
STUDENT POSTER CONTEST: VOICES FOR CHANGE
Students in Kindergarten through high school are invited to enter a district contest that challenges them to get creative and help call attention to the dangers of substance use, including vaping, drugs, and alcohol, while promoting mental health awareness and healthy choices.
Students are invited to enter the Voices for Change contest by creating a post or PSA video
All entries must be submitted by December 22, 2024
