GMS Weekly News and Notes
Weekly Updates
The GMS Wellness Department did a fantastic job with the main lobby display for December. The display contains a lot of very helpful information for students who are looking to maintain good physical and mental health, mirroring a lot of the topics covered in the health curriculum.
Along the same lines, we recognize that, while there is a lot of joy and excitement at this time of year, winter and the holiday season can also be challenging for kids and adults alike. If your student is struggling emotionally, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at the school. We can help connect families with resources and support.
Congratulations to the cast and production crew of Trap, the first ever GMS fall play. Please see below for all of the highlights!
Please remember that the ballot vote on the GMS building project will take place on Tuesday, December 10th.
One additional reminder that this Wednesday, December 11th will be an early dismissal day for students. Students will be dismissed at 11:05AM
The Fall Caregiver Survey is open. Please take a few minutes to provide your feedback on the year so far. The more families we hear from, the better our data is for planning purposes.
Campus Highlight: The GMS Math Team is Greater Than
From Ms. Kennedy
The GMS math team competed against their counterparts from Mansfield on Thursday, taking first place in the competition. Congratulations to our Bulldog Mathletes!
It's a Trap!
The GMS premiered its first ever Fall Play. The show, Trap, was a nail biting Sci-Fi thriller. The students were so well rehearsed, embodying their characters, and invested in the show that it was enough to give even the bravest nightmares! Kudos to director Amy Delaney, assistant director Corinne Coates, and the whole crew of staff and students!
Campus Highlight: Elf Twinning
Mr. Murphy and 6th grader Cassidy Shepherd both hit on the Elf theme with their fashion choices earlier this week. Smiling remains a favorite of Team Meteorites!
GMS Candy Cane Sale to Support Animal Protection Center
Between December 3 and December 10th, Student Leadership will be taking pre-orders for candy canes. Students can buy a candy cane for a friend, a teacher, or themselves. All candy canes are $1 each and all proceeds will go directly to the Animal Protection Center of SouthEastern Massachusetts. Candy Canes will be delivered to students at the end of the day on Friday, 12/20.

GMS Fact of the Week
This week's fact comes to us from the Science department:
A snowflake can take up to two hours to fall from a cloud to the ground. (National Geographic)
Bulldog Nurses' Blip
MS Nursing students from Curry College, Jenna and Alexis, created a beautiful bulletin board in the nurse's office. Their project focuses on the physical and mental side effects of social media. We invite students to stop by and take a look at this valuable information to help them make safer health choices related to electronics use.
A resource for parents to help aid their children in learning about safe social media use includes a contract that outlines online stewardship rules and prevents risky behaviors.
