Unity Preschool News

Dear Preschool Families,

This is our last regular newsletter for this school year. We will be doing a special "graduation" newsletter in May. Our year will be coming to an end in five short school weeks. Thank you for trusting us with your children and supporting us with your time and financial resources.

Many thanks to our amazing Staff who came to work each and every day with joy in their hearts and smiles/laughter to teach and love your children. Many of our Staff have faced challenging health issues concerning children, spouses, and extended family during the school year, and yet their dedication and enthusiasm never wavered. Some truly incredible educators have blessed your children.

The theme in many of our classes this week is Community Helpers. Below our some pictures of our visit earlier today with the Fort Mill Fire Department.

Our last Spirit Day is Thursday, April 18 - EARTH DAY. We will be enjoying some fun activities with your children reminding them of God's great gift of creation and how we can help take care of our earth.

Ms. Carol is one of our special VIPs (Volunteers Impacting Preschool). Ms. Carol is a weekly classroom helper who assists with Center Time in our Owl class on Mondays. Ms. Carol is a Unity member and relocated to Fort Mill with her husband to be near her children and grandchildren. Ms. Carol is a retired preschool/elementary/special education teacher with over 30 years of experience and is excited to be back in the classroom. She loves spending time with family, walking, and reading. We are thrilled to have Ms. Carol helping us in our classroom.

This is Ms. Leah Martin's second year as a VIP in our Four's Owl class. She is the mother of Ms. Elizabeth (Lead Teacher - Owl Class) and grandmother of Katherine (Fours - Fish Class). Ms. Leah is married to Fort Mill native, Chip Martin, and they live behind the church in Whiteville Park. She enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family. We are so blessed to have her help us during Center Time on Wednesdays and as a sub as needed.

Jennifer Cattarin will be taking our pictures on TUESDAY, April 16th. We will take individual pictures, sibling pictures (Unity students), and class pictures. The pictures are taken outside in our pretty courtyard. We will let you know via SeeSaw if we have to postpone due to weather.

With the nicer weather we thought it would be fun to host another Family Picnic for all of our classes. You (mom, dad, siblings, grandparents, friends) are invited to bring a picnic lunch and a blanket to preschool and we will enjoy lunch together in our Park at 11:15. If you are a working parent and cannot attend, simply let us know. You can send a lunch with your child and we will arrange a picnic partner for your child. We will postpone your day to the following week if the weather is not cooperating.

We are thrilled to host Graduation for our Four's classes in our Sanctuary for family and friends of our graduates. Graduation will be Wednesday, May 15 at 11:00. We will be sending more information to the Fours in the coming weeks.

We sent home scholastic flyers with your children today. You can choose to have your books shipped to your home or delivered to the preschool with our school order. With a $25 order, you can pick a FREE $5 Book (use code: READS).

Your orders help us purchase more books for our Preschool Library as well as Birthday, Christmas, and End-of-Year books for your children. We also included a Preschool Wish List with some books that we would appreciate for our preschool library.

We will be finalizing our order on Monday, April 22 so that we receive the books before the end of the preschool year. We included a link below for the digital flyers for preschool students. Thanks in advance for your support.

*Names on Clothes: Please include the name of your child on jackets. It helps our subs because they do not know everyone.

*Bug Spray/Sunscreen: As it warms up, please apply sunscreen and/or bug spray in the morning before you drop off your child.

*Folder Reminder: Please remember to empty your child's folder at least every week!
