Star Lab
Next week, our Snail Lake science specialist teachers will be taking their classes into the Star Lab for a unique science lesson. The Star lab is a portable planetarium experience for students that travels around all Mounds View elementary schools and K Centers throughout the year. This star lab was purchased by the generous partnership of the Mounds View Schools Education Foundation! Our kindergarteners will be looking at the patterns of the sun, as well as the stars and constellations. This planetarium lesson will provide an excellent foundation experience for classroom lessons in May about the sun. Students will need to wear socks inside the Star Lab.
The specialist schedule for classes in the Star Lab is:
Monday, April 22: Mrs. Woodcock's classes - Cassidy, Sabby, Wagner, Pinkerton, Johnson
Tuesday, April 23: Mrs. Parent's classes- Andrusko, Walseth, Pieper, Brown
Wednesday, April 24: Mrs. Murray's classes- Zukowski, Chenal, Friesen, Kath, Heyer
Optional Student Input for 2024-25 First Grade
The 2024-25 school year will be here before we know it! This spring we will begin the process of placing students in first grade classes. Due to the number of students we serve and the complex nature of creating balanced classrooms, we are not able to take specific teacher requests. However, teachers and administrators will work diligently to make sure students are placed in a way that sets each student up for a successful year.
If you would like to provide additional insights about your child, you may fill out the Student Input for 2024-25 First Grade by Wednesday, April 24, 2024.
Dentist Visit
Snail Lake recently had a dentist, Dr. Kevin Holly, visit and share with our students about dental health. Dr. Holly is releasing his new book Brush Your Teeth, You Silly Animals at the Shoreview Library on Tuesday, April 30 at 6:00pm. Come and celebrate his book!
Kowalski's Groceries for Good Causes
Snail Lake Kindergarten Center is a participant in the Groceries for Good Causes program. The Groceries for Good Causes program allows shoppers to choose which neighborhood organizations matter most to them. Simply drop your grocery receipt in one of the bins to "vote" for the organization you'd like to support, and Kowalski's will donate a percentage of their quarterly charitable giving budget based on the number of receipts in each box.
