AP literature
In January, Mrs. Rushton‘s AP literature classes competed in an Indiana writing contest called Letters About Literature. Students were challenged to write a letter to the author of a novel they had recently read that had made an impact on them personally. Tiffanie Zheng was selected as an honorable mention awardee, meaning her letter was in the top 28 out of over 1,000 letters. Congratulations, Tiffanie!!
2024 Chancellor's Opportunity Scholarship
The Ivy Tech Community College-Lafayette Chancellor’s Opportunity Scholarship is a scholarship designed to recognize a student’s personal and scholastic achievements. The scholarship amount of $1000 will be applied towards tuition costs and fees. Scholarship recipients will be credited with $500 for the fall semester and $500 for the spring semester. This scholarship is only valid for the 2024-2025 school year.
Eligibility
All high school seniors that meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:
(1) Be a U.S. citizen, permanent U.S. resident, qualified alien, or undocumented student
(2) must have at least a 2.0/4.0 high school GPA
(3) must have applied and be admitted to Ivy Tech Community College-Lafayette (including instructional sites in Crawfordsville and Frankfort) for the Fall 2024 term
(4) must plan to enroll full-time (at least 12 credit hours) for the fall and spring semesters of 2024-2025
(5) must presently attend one of the high schools or be a homeschooled senior in the Ivy Tech Lafayette Service Area.

Statewide Stock Market Simulation Competition
Principles of Business students are participating in a statewide stock market simulation competition. When the stock market closed yesterday at 4:00 PM, Frankfort High School's Abraham Valdez was ranked FIRST out of 482 students. Abraham's portfolio has gained over $10,000 in the first week!
DECA Cookies is donating $150 to the Clinton County Humane Society from the DECA Valentine’s Day cookie profit. DECA thanks staff and students for supporting the Valentine’s Day community service initiative!
DECA Cookies are baked Monday through Thursday during Period 6. Stop by the DECA Cookies cart before school or during the passing period to get your cookie fix. DECA has M&M, chocolate chip, and double fudge cookies available for sale weekly, while supplies last. Specialty cookies, sugar and snickerdoodle will be limited due to availability. One bag (2-cookies) is $1.00

This is DECA’s 13th year planning and implementing the DECA Backpack Buddies community service project. Frankfort DECA has committed to feeding 120 Frankfort elementary, middle, and high school students. In order to feed 120 students for 34 weeks, Frankfort DECA is needing to raise $13,260 to purchase non-perishable, easy-to-make snacks for weekend Buddy Bags.
Since August 2011, DECA Backpack Buddies has raised $157,635.06 through financial and product donations. As of February 22, 2024, 51,327 weekend Buddy Bags have been distributed to 1,658 unique Frankfort students. The success of the community service project is the result of all of the individuals, churches, grants, and businesses who donate resources each year.
DECA members’ weekend menus were randomly selected to be used this year. Shout out to the following members for hand selecting each item for the week’s Buddy Bag:
