Book Fair this Week
April 21-25
Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Book Fair:
Dates: April 21-25, 2025
Family Event schedule:
Open till 5:30 pm on Tuesday 4/22 & Thursday 4/24
Open @ 7:30 am on Thursday 4/24 & Friday 4/25
There’s even more info on our school’s Book Fair homepage: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/bethelelementaryschool4
While you’re there, set up a Book Fair eWallet, the digital payment account that allows your child to shop for books at the Fair without cash. Then share your eWallet link so friends and extended family can add funds.
Many of us still remember the rush of finding the perfect book at a Scholastic Book Fair. We hope you’ll join your child at our school’s Fair and share a reading experience they’ll remember forever.

RETESTING:
In years past, some of our students needed to retest to get the few extra points to pass. We will definitely keep families posted. We are working on our retesting plan and will let families know if your child needs to retest. See more information below. ⏬
Bethel Boost
Reading and Math camp for BES students- June 10-June 30
This year, students in grades K-4 will get to join our Bethel Boost Reading Camp! 4th Grade will also be doing math. These are students that need a little BOOST to get them ready for the next grade level. If a 3rd or 4th grader doesn't pass their EOG test, they will be invited to attend as well. Our Bethel Boost camp has been called RTA (Read to Achieve) camp in previous years. We will be sending out our first round of invitations in early May. Breakfast and lunch are free and included and there will be bus transportation at community stops. Students would attend Monday-Friday 8:00 am -1:15 pm and the dates are June 10-June 30.
Books on Break- Can you Help? Sign Up with the Link
Our second annual Books on Break event is happening May 12- May 15th. This is a HUGE undertaking for our librarian, Mrs. Haas, because each student in our school receives 10 free books! That is 5500 books to go through, organize, and get ready for our students. We could really use some help! The week prior to this, the books will arrive. Would you be willing to spend some time helping to sort and organize books? If so, please email myself (awatson@haywood.k12.,nc.us) or Mrs. Haas (dhaas@haywood.k12.nc.us). You are also welcome to call the school at 828-646-3448.
Don't Forget the Clothes Bin
Thanks for supporting our Clothes Bin at BES! We received our first check in March and received $120 and at that time, it wasn't even set up for a month, yet! All monies we earn will go to purchasing supplies and materials for your children! Thanks again for your support!
