Message from the Principal, Sandra Calkins
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all who attended our Open House in August. It was wonderful to see so many of you here, connecting with our teachers and learning about the exciting year ahead. Your involvement in your child's education is invaluable, and we are grateful for your continued support.
Upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences
As we move into the school year, I want to remind you about our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences, scheduled for September 18, 19, and 20. Students will be dismissed at 11:40 on these days to allow for conferences. These conferences are a crucial opportunity for you to discuss your child’s progress, address any concerns, and collaborate with teachers to ensure your child’s success. Your participation in these conferences is key to building a strong home-school partnership, so please make every effort to attend. Teachers have added the conference scheduling option on their Class Dojo class accounts. Please check with your child's teacher if you do not yet have a conference scheduled, or call us at the main office (520) 225-2300.
After-School Tutoring Program
We are excited to begin our after-school tutoring program this month on September 9th. This program is designed to provide additional academic and enrichment opportunities for our identified 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Students will receive an invitation that needs to be returned. In addition to targeted academic support, we are pleased to offer enrichment activities, including a mariachi program and puppetry classes. These programs are not only fun but also help students develop important skills such as teamwork, creativity, and cultural appreciation.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to our school community. We look forward to a successful and enriching year ahead!
In service,
Sandra Calkins,
Principal

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
Your involvement in the PTA is instrumental in creating a positive and supportive school environment. We look forward to welcoming new members to our PTA family. Please join us for our PTA meeting on Tuesday, September 24th at 3:00pm. Snacks will be provided and a raffle for attendees. At our next PTA meeting, we will be discussing our Storybook Costume parade, Cyclovia event, and Fall Fiesta. We would appreciate your new ideas and volunteers are needed for our upcoming events. PTA will be selling t-shirts in September, please be on the lookout for this flyer, as all orders are pre-sale. Thank you for supporting our PTA and helping us display our school spirit.
Family Events and Resources
Counselor Corner
August went by so quickly. Our students have been adjusting to being in school again and I am doing my best to learn all about Mission View. I am trying to learn names and favorite activities.
The Character Strong trait for September is respect. We will also explore Character Strong’s unit on bullying prevention. We will be reviewing personal boundaries and practicing “I-messages.” I would love to get to know the families of our students. Please stop by anytime to chat, call or email.
Your counselor,
Jan Milligan
