Are Chromebooks Ready for Testing?
The month of April brings all the spring sports, FFA events, and the Hunt County Fair. Along with all this spring madness comes STAAR testing month! We will kick off testing with STAAR Reading grades 3-8 on April 11. Technology plays a crucial role with all the tests being online now. In preparation for testing, a tech member will be checking devices to ensure they are up to date and in good working order. Each campus has different situations for the 1:1 Chromebooks. Elementary Chromebooks reside in the classroom on charging towers, jr. high Chromebooks stay in the library on charging carts, and the high school students keep Chromebooks with them. We will be doing Chromebook checks at elem and jh this week and early next week. Please let us know ASAP if you have any Chromebooks that need attention. High school students will bring their Chromebooks to the library for checks/updates during tutorials. HS teachers, please refer to Mr. Taylor’s email with specific dates. Also, high school students need to be reminded to bring the Chromebook and charger prior to testing day to ensure Chromebooks are fully charged and ready to go on testing day. Be sure to be flexible with lesson planning and Chromebook use as students may not have access to them on days prior to testing. We do not have control over technology issues such as the Internet on testing day, but we are committed to making sure that our devices are in optimal condition for testing.
