From the desk of Mrs. Humphries
Hello Gold Academy Families,
Today was a special day. All of our staff, students, parents, and community members came together to celebrate our students of the month, Support Staff of the year, and Teacher of the Year. We all know that it gets very tough around this time of the school year, especially with the weather changing frequently. So any chance that we get to celebrate all of the wonderful things our students and staff are doing is a win for the Gold Academy! Thank you to all who attended this morning.
Last night we held our annual winter carnival. It was wonderful to see all of the families and students come to watch our grade level students perform. They have worked so hard and they were able to showcase what they have learned. A special thanks to our high school athletes and high school volunteer students. We could not have done this event without all of you.
When you visit you may see me wearing a shirt that says, “A Sea Full of Acceptance” Our E + R = O (Event + Response = O) moment this month focused on recognizing your own feelings, how your feelings affect others, and showing empathy. We also discussed supporting each other and making positive choices.
Our 2nd graders finished taking the IREAD assessment this week. Thank you to all of you for making sure that your child was in attendance at school and the support that was given to them. Our third graders will begin to take the test next week on Tuesday and Wednesday. They will leave their ipads at school so that we can make sure they have the latest update and they are fully charged.
Fat Tuesday Fun!
Thank you to our wonderful cafeteria staff for baking King Cakes for our staff. Six lucky winners (Mrs. Ramsey, Mrs. Barrett, Miss Sebastian, Mrs. Vela Flores, Ms. Coppes, and Miss Cowper) found a baby in their slice!
The winner of Rock, Paper, Scissors for beads was Mrs. Rouse!
Bring in dimes and earn an ice cream sandwich party for your class!
Congratulations - Teacher of the Year, Miss Allison James
Congratulations - Support Staff of the Year, Mrs. Beth Zorman
Congratulations Students of the Month

Our Carnival was a success!
Thank you to our PTO and several staff and student volunteers for a great Carnival last night. A great time was had by all. A special thanks to Jeff Simms (Ana Simms' dad) for a great magic show!

Food Free Celebrations
Please see the guidelines from our student handbook regarding birthday celebrations.
You are welcome to send a donated book, puzzle, or game to celebrate your child’s birthday. Due to food allergies and diet restrictions, all birthday celebrations will be FOOD FREE. This is to assure that all students can participate in the birthday celebrations. Students will be recognized on the announcements and in their classroom for their special day. At times, parents have asked us to help them by passing out birthday party invitations to children in the class. We are not able to do this unless every child in the class is invited.
Deadline to order is Thursday, March 20th!
Impacks School Supplies!
More information will be coming soon about the Impacks Back To School Supplies! We partnered with them last year and it was very successful. The kits were delivered to the school on Meet the Teacher night and had everything needed for your child.
