Engageli Showcase August 2024
UniSQ Colleagues Share L&T Experiences
Introduction
It has been 2.5 years since we first introduced the Engageli learning environment to UniSQ. After two years in pilot mode this tool is 'business as usual' and we continue to encourage academics and schools to participate. This is a tool made for education and learning and teaching scenarios, not for web conferencing.
On August 27, 2024, Learning and Teaching Futures hosted an Engageli Showcase seminar.
The videos below share practical implementation of Engageli into a variety of schools and learning situations. As indicated in these presentations it may take a while to get to know all of the in's and out's of Engageli, however the rewards far outweigh the effort.
Don't forget of course that we are here to support, as is Engageli who are keen to onboard more academics with basic use and go deeper with redesign of online learning.
Make sure you watch the first video below - especially if you are a HoS or AHLTSS. A/P Lisa Beccaria also shares how the School of Nursing and Midwifery are taking a 'whole school' approach over the next 18 month, whereby in 2026 all courses in this school will use Engageli for learning and teaching (rather than Zoom).
A big thank you to all who shared their approaches to and enthusiasm about using Engageli!

School of Nursing and Midwifery - Lisa Beccaria
This video was created after the Showcase as we ran out of time for Lisa to fully explain the SNM's approach. You will be excited to hear how Lisa has based this project on research, and is encouraging scholarly research from academics, as part of the stepped implementation of Engageli across the next 18 months. Yes, by 2026 ALL courses in the SNM will be using Engageli!
Well done Lisa and team.
UniSQ College - Naomi Ryan
As a leader of the UniPrep program in UniSQ College Naomi is always looking for tools that can bridge the gap between UniSQ and other institutions. Zoom and Teams do not work efficiently for courses that include high school students. After some collaboration we determined that Engageli was THE tool to use. Naomi explains how!
As a side comment - Engageli easily brings guests from outside of UniSQ into the room.
Ask us how!!
School of Mathematics, Physics and Computing - Tim Holt
In this presentation Tim focuses on some of the technical requirements of Engageli and shares his expert approach to embedding this tool into learning for students. It is always good to hear different perspectives and to see how Tim has worked with Engageli to adapt it to the needs of his students and curriculum.
School of Education - Tracey Chamlin
Tracey is a TechDem Champion and shares how she loves using Engageli Polls and word clouds to engage students. She also uses the Whiteboard feature (actually there are a couple of ways you can integrate a whiteboard for tables and the whole class) to foster discussion. Data analytics found in the Engageli dashboard are discussed as they help inform her approach with students in the course.
School of Humanities and Communication - Maria Arena
Maria as a relative newcomer to Engageli, saw the potential immediately and now uses this tool for a number of student engagement purposes in her courses. She clearly describes the many ways Engageli supports synchronous and asynchronous learning through different approaches and use of the Playback room.
This is another great example of how Engageli offers any and every school (and academic) the opportunity to utilise a purpose-built tool for learning and teaching!
School of Education - Lisa Ryan
What I like about Engageli is the regular updates and new embedded facility. Lisa is typical of most users however in that she knows what she wants to use for her students and does not readily grab onto every new feature. This video is to be watched in admiration of Lisa's tenacity and dedication to digitally-infused learning.
School of Nursing and Midwifery - Dianne Stratton-Maher
Dianne, as a TechDem Champion, is a pro with technology integration. We were running out of time during the Showcase so Di aptly shortened her presentation to make key points. Make sure you get to the end of her presentation - there is an excellent quote she shares that essentially says it all!
Ok, we didn't want you to wait to see Di's quotable quote......
We invite you to get in touch with the Senior Education Technology Advisor, Learning and Teaching Futures, Dr Julie Lindsay so that you can:
- Learn more about Engageli.
- Organise sessions for you and your team.
- Discuss and plan for a whole-school approach for 2025.
