Fall 2024 Newsletter
Dear SASD Families & Friends,
As we welcome the fall season, I have been reflecting on the incredible impact the IVEF has made on our students and schools. I am pleased to share our Annual Report and an overview of the programs and projects we have been able to fund across the district. It is exciting to see the tangible impact that your gifts have in our classrooms. These projects support innovation, creativity, and hands-on learning opportunities for students of all ages, preparing them for bright futures ahead.
This fall, we continue to expand our reach by working closely with educators and the community to identify even more ways to support our students. As we look toward the future, we are excited about upcoming initiatives that foster student engagement, enhance learning environments, and provide innovative resources to empower both students and educators to thrive.
On behalf of our board, I thank you for your interest in our mission. Your involvement and generosity are essential to everything we do, and we are truly grateful for your partnership in advancing traditional public education in our community. Please click the link below for a short video that showcases our impact in the SASD.
Warmly,
RuthE S. Potter, CEFL.

EITC FUNDING IN ACTION: Timekettle and VR Goggles
Thanks to the generosity of Univest Financial through their participation in the state of Pennsylvania's Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC), the IVEF purchased Timekettle devices for use district wide and VR Googles for middle school classrooms.
Timekettle: A voice language translator that allows for real time translation in over 40 different languages enabling students (and their families) to communicate with educators effectively making education more accessible and equitable for all students.
VR Goggles: Allow students to explore concepts, travel to places all over the world, and even travel through time without ever leaving the classroom. Imagine being able to visit the pyramids in Egypt, experience the inside of a tornado or experience the Civil War first hand! VR Goggles help bring learning to life.

- Home & School and Parent Participation Meeting Visits: Representatives from the IVEF are making their rounds to each of our buildings to share the mission and vision of the IVEF.
- Peter Becker Community: Students in Mrs. Momsen's Creative Writing class will once again be interviewing residents at Peter Becker and sharing their stories. Students and residents will be invited to a special lunch to celebrate this program and the stories that have been written in December.
- Souderton Mennonite Homes: The IVEF looks forward to meeting with staff at Souderton Mennonite Homes to discuss a partnership opportunity with an Introduction to Literature class. Together students and seniors will have the opportunity to explore the strength of the human spirit in times of great strife, adversity, and tragedy while focusing on the universal necessity to fight hatred and ignorance through understanding and empathy.
- Harleysville Rotary Club: Our Executive Director joined the members of the Harleysville Rotary Club for breakfast and the opportunity to share more about the work that the IVEF does all year to support traditional public education here in SASD.
- Indian Valley NPO Cohort: We believe that every community is at its best when we work together. We are far more impactful when we bring people together for a shared vision in supporting one another. The IVEF was thrilled to welcome representatives from the Indian Valley Public Library, Indian Creek Foundation, Jenna's Blessing Bags, Keystone Opportunity Center, NAMI and St. Luke's Penn Foundation to share resources, challenges and learn more about the TimeKettle devices that the IVEF was able to provide to SASD.
