Panorama Survey for Families
Please take a moment to complete our family survey. We use this feedback to support students and families and plan for the school year.
Kindergarten Round Up
Do you have a child that will be 5 on or before 9/1/24? If so, please fill out this form to let us know they are planning on attending Westminster Center School's kindergarten classroom. We are planning two family play nights in May, so it is important we have your contact information for future communication. More info to come!
Kindergarten
This week, kindergarteners learned about the maple syrup process. We read books, watched videos, and observed how maple trees are tapped. After this learning, children had the opportunity to enjoy a maple syrup taste test and syrup on pancakes!
First Grade
The first graders at Studio Y had an exciting encounter with Shamus O'Shanigan. This lively fellow lives in Rainbow Valley, which is located directly on the opposite side of the rainbow. Shamus introduced the students to the Rainbow Room, where they experimented with the magic of light energy. The students discovered new ideas and vocabulary words by playing with shadows and light beams for a colorful, full-spectrum experience. Stay tuned for more adventures at Studio Y!
Second Grade
Students in second grade have been continuing to grow their reading and writing skills. One of the ways we support our growth is through our UFLI phonics work. Each day, we follow our UFLI routines and enjoy a play-based or game-based activity at the end. We have been enjoying practicing our ending patterns with UFLI games, like tic-tac-toe!
Fifth Grade
5th graders continued their learning about the 13 American Colonies this week by learning about Colonial clothing. We all agreed that our clothing is much more comfortable now! Kids were shocked to find out how many layers colonists might wear, as well as their solution to pockets! Students also gathered information about each colony including the founders, reasons and dates of each in order to complete a timeline.
Sixth Grade
The 6th graders used their knowledge of color theory with analogous colors to create these Alma Woodsey Thomas inspired works of art. The 6th graders have been studying the artist Alma Woodsey Thomas, who was a teacher and artist who developed a powerful form of abstract painting late in life. From the mid-1960s, she produced brilliantly colored and richly patterned works intimately connected to the natural world.
