March 2024
A Message from Principal Stephens
Dear Patterson Families,
Spring is in the air and with that brings some fun weeks ahead for our students. Read Across America and school spirit week is March 4th-8th. During this week students will be celebrating books, authors, having themed dress up days, and reading with a
different theme each day. The week will be packed with on-site field trips, school spirit assemblies, our 5th/6th grade regional track meet, as well as fitness and teamwork with our annual Field Day.
It is also that time of year for students to shine with proficiency levels and individual growth. After Spring Break, we have our computer-based AASA/AZSci state testing for grades 3rd-6th. Testing will be from April 3rd-April 19th. The 5th Grade AZSci is on April 4th, 5th and 8th. Please look for information from your child’s teacher on their specific testing days and times.
It is important to have students in attendance, on time, and ready for their day. If at all possible, please schedule any appointments after school, especially during this testing timeframe. Families can help students prepare for the test by reminding them to get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy, full breakfast in order to have enough “brain fuel”.
Thank you for your continued support, our students have achieved so much already this year and I have no doubt that they will continue to rise to their full potential.
If you would like an Environmental Request or Program Change form for the 2024-2025 school year, please stop by the front office to receive a form. In order for your request to be considered, all forms must be turned in to the front office by April 28th 2024.
On behalf of our staff, thank you parents for making Patterson amazing!
Warmly,
Sarah Stephens
Principal
Thank you to our Patterson Community
On behalf of our PRIDE staff and students, thank you for all of your donations toward our annual Progress for Patterson (P4P) fundraiser! We are proud that 100% of community donations go right back into our school and classrooms. If you can believe it, your generosity raised $72, 267.75 for our students! We are thankful to have such a supportive community on a variety of levels in order to ensure essential resources and unique experiences are available to our students. Your support is what makes Patterson such a strong and special community. A heartfelt thank you!

Library Corner with Ms. Hufford
Thank you, Patterson Families, for making our first February Scholastic Book Fair a success. Next February, parent-teacher conferences will be held during the week of the fair, which will provide you with additional shopping opportunities.
The library has collaborated with Student Council to plan book themed Spirit Days during Read Across America Week. In addition, I am sponsoring a Read Across America BINGO that will begin on March 2 and continue until the 25th of the same month. Students may bring in the completed BINGO or parents can email the information for students to earn a prize. Please see the flyers below with additional information. Hopefully your family discovers some fun new reading traditions!
