Weather Guidelines for Outside Student Activities
During the cold winter weather, be sure that your child comes to school with appropriate winter coats, hats, gloves, etc. Students go outside daily for lunch recess and need to be dressed for the weather. The guidelines established by District 47 during cold weather are as follows:
Temperature/Wind Chill of 15 degrees or warmer = unlimited time outside
Temperature/Wind Chill of 0 to 15 degrees = 20 minutes outside
Below 0 degrees = Students remain indoors
Spelling Bee
We are excited to invite students and families to see our building level spelling bee on February 11th at 4:30pm in the LMC.
2025-26 Kindergarten Registration
District 47 online kindergarten registration for the 2025-26 school year will begin February 3. At that time, families can register their incoming kindergartener by completing the steps on the District 47 website at d47.org/registration. Early registration helps with adequate staffing, placement in your home school preference, and appropriate class size.
Kindergarten Dual Language Meetings
Informational meetings about District 47's Dual Language program will be held for parents who have an incoming kindergarten student for the 2025-2026 school year. If you are interested in placing your child into the program and you do not have a child currently enrolled in the dual language program, attendance is required at one of these meetings. Flyer. Upcoming PTO Activities & Fundraisers
Wooden Spoon Cookie Dough order forms going home this week. Orders are due February 24th and pick up will be March 4th at 2:30 to 5pm. Please look for the order form in your child’s backpack! We are hoping for a total of 250 cookie doughs sold!
Next Activity Night is Feb 21st, 6-8pm. Come play board games, puzzles, bags, soccer and basketball tournaments, volleyball and more! Any ideas that we can add, just let us know! This is a drop off only event. Cash only please-$3 to enter and $1 for tournaments. Snacks & drinks will be available for purchase.
8th grade Dance coming up in May!! 8th grade parents- it will be here before you know it so hope you can make it to the parent volunteer decorating meeting on Feb 24th at 6 to 6:45pm in the cafeteria (before the 7pm PTO meeting). Please bring theme ideas or questions you may have. It should take about 30 mins. If you are unable to attend, please send someone that will be on your decorating team to get the info. We need 25 to 30 parents to volunteer to decorate the gym, bathrooms, and hallway, so 6th and 7th grade parents are welcome to help if available! This will be the only meeting for the dance as a whole group. The teams then branch off and work on their plan for the wall or area they choose.

Some of the things that PTO helps to support throughout the school year are: whole grade field trips for each grade, sport uniforms, teacher appreciation week and meals during conferences, teacher pop ups, whole school musical field trips and field trips for our clubs, honor night awards, LMS musical supplies and props and more!
Athletics/Activities

If your student is interested in participating, please be sure to register on SNAP AND have a current sports physical on file in the health office. PLEASE NOTE: Students will not be allowed to participate without these two steps being completed.
As new clubs begin, they will be added to our Clubs & Activities page on our website. We encourage parents and students to also check our Daily Announcements, which are posted on our website each day, to see what clubs are starting up soon.

Elevate Award
Middle School Connections Support Group For ages 11 to 14
Tackle the challenges of everyday life and mental health. This support group is co-led by a licensed clinical psychologist from Ascension and a NAMI Recovery Support Specialist.
