Message from the Principal
Dear Kennedy High School Families and Community Members,
It has been another incredible week of learning at Kennedy High School.
Last Thursday, I was reminded of the incredible power of kindness and compassion at the AUHSD Board Meeting. Both Lieutenant Colonel McCall and the La Palma Foundation were honored with Kindness Matters recognition. This honor reflects the values that underpin our community and the positive impact we can make through acts of kindness. As we approach a week off to celebrate Thanksgiving, I am reminded of the connection between kindness and gratitude. To me, it seems that gratitude and kindness are like two sides of the same coin. They reinforce each other, creating a virtuous cycle that benefits both the giver and the receiver.
As our families gather to express gratitude, practice kindness, and celebrate the holiday season, I want to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to join the Kennedy High School and La Palma community. It has been a privilege to work alongside such dedicated staff, talented students, and supportive parents. Together, we are working to nurture our students and prepare them for bright futures.
I would also like to remind families who may be experiencing food insecurity that our Family & Community Engagement Specialist, David Hernandez, is available to assist with food pantry items. These items are made possible by the generous donations of our community partners, the Kiwanis Club and the La Palma Community Foundation. Please visit the Family & Community Engagement Center (Room 901) for more information.
Finally, I encourage everyone to come out and support our Kennedy Fighting Irish Scholar Athletes as they compete in Winter athletics games and competitions this week.
Here are the home games this week:

Tobacco Use and Prevention Education
This school year, vaping and tobacco use among youth and young adults are still a serious concern. Every day, new discreet vaping products enter the market. They are camouflaged as common household objects, video games, toys, and school supplies and are meant to sneak past adults.
Behind the enticing flavors and flashy colors of e-cigarettes are harmful chemicals and nicotine addiction.
Learn the essentials to help kids avoid or quit vaping and other nicotine use.
Our virtual presentation Dangers of Vaping: What Parents Need to Know in 2024 will be held on Tuesday, November 19 at 3:00PM Pacific Time. At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
- Understand and recognize tobacco industry tactics targeting youth
- Explain the dangers of nicotine e-cigarettes/vapes, non-nicotine vapes, and other new tobacco products
- Know the steps to protect youth and how to advise others to get involved
- Know how to take action in your own communities
