SPIRIT WEEK and SUB SALE
Hello, Crossroads students and families! Happy Friday! Thank you to all of you for your help with our crazy schedule this week with M-Step and PSAT testing. It makes for a long week for our students and they were fantastic with all of the schedule changes. Next week, our Crossroads Frandale Sub Sale continues! Please continue to sell subs, soups and cinnamon rolls! All of our profits go back into our students here in the building for end of the year activities!
Next week we are celebrating testing being over with a Spirit Week, complete with dress-up days! Student Council was instrumental in arranging this, as well as helping with our dance tonight! Enjoy the sunny days we have in store this weekend!

PE Water Safety
As part of the physical education & health curriculum, we are extremely excited to include a required water safety unit and utilize the high school pool! We are scheduled to participate in this Water Safety Program on April 16,18,19 for Boys and on April 23,25,26 for Girls. Students will walk to the high school and attend water safety lessons, swim technique lessons (learn-to-swim or pre-competitive depending on a skill test), play group games, and earn free time.
All classes are taught by certified instructors and are under the supervision of a lifeguard.
Each day, please assist your student with remembering to bring several items:
A swimsuit
- Boys must wear swim trunks, board shorts, athletic shorts, or jammers.
- Girls must wear a one piece swimsuit, or tankini, or a swim shirt over two piece.
***Boys and Girls can wear a NON Cotton T-shirt over their suit if they feel more comfortable in the water.
Be aware that loose clothing such as T-shirts create drag.
No swimming caps are needed/supplied.
Please have your son/daughter bring a towel every day to swim. They should TAKE IT HOME EVERY DAY.
A plastic grocery bag to carry wet suits/towels back home from school
If needed, some goggles are available, but it is highly encouraged that students bring their own (non-masks, please).

Northview Mentor Program Auction
The NVMP Annual Online Action opens Saturday, April 13th @ 1:00 pm! The Auction will end on April 23, 2024 @ 11:00 pm . Our goal this year is to raise $6,000.
NVPS School of Choice 2024-2025
Registration Notes
- Residents brand new to NV will register on the website beginning Feb 9.
- If a family already has a student attending NV (resident and current SOC families) they will use their ParentVue account to register a new student.
Current SOC Families Notes
- Current SOC families registering a new sibling for next year must also submit a Schools of Choice application between April 8-May 10.
- We give preference to siblings of our current families but it is still dependent on space availability per grade. If we cannot place a sibling due to lack of space available, the sibling will be placed at the top of the waitlist before any new SOC applicants are added.
Registration Documentation
PLEASE NOTE DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AT REGISTRATION (blue highlights mean that lack of this paperwork will hold up registration) :
- Original Birth Certificate - photocopies not accepted.
- TWO current proofs of residency from the following list: gas, electric, water, trash, housing agreement. This is strictly followed. There must be two, they must be current (within 30 days), and they must be the type of proof listed.
- Proof of immunizations - this will not hold up registration but it is part of the intake paperwork.
- Dental Visit - Kent County Health Department will start requiring proof of a dental visit for incoming K/1st grade students. More on that will be shared out at a later date.
Great Start Readiness Preschool
These students will be required to follow all the registration and SOC guidelines noted above. Enrollment in GSRP does NOT automatically qualify them to enroll in Northview.
If they are residents or have SOC siblings currently enrolled - they must still turn in documentation and fill out registrations/applications as stated above.
If these students are not residents they will be required to fill out the SOC application. If they are accepted, they will then fill out a NV registration.
If you have any questions please reach out to London Tyler at extension 21118.
PTC Fundraiser

Styrofoam Collection
There will be a styrofoam collection on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 10:00am-3:00pm at Crossroads Middle School. The trailer will be located near the tennis courts across from Crossroads side parking lot. Dart container will take the collection to Mason Michigan where it will be processed back to plastic pellets and then made into a variety of products. Styrofoam needs to be clean and dry. It can be stained but no pieces of food or dirt Styrofoam (polystyrene) is a #6 plastic and is easy to break and crumble. We do not collect foam #4 which is more "stretchy" and doesn't break apart. We also do not collect the pressed insulation boards that "flake" away.. There is a PaperGator close by so feel free to put junk mail, old magazines, and all forms of paper products (including paperboard such as cereal boxes, kleenex boxes, etc). Please NO cardboard. Email Dana Krueger at dkrueger@nvps.net for questions or if you need to drop off your styrofoam before May 18.
Food Assistance through Summer EBT
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) partnered during the pandemic to provide critical food assistance to students through the Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) program. The state is now transitioning the Pandemic EBT program to the Summer EBT program.
Families who are Directly Certified to receive assistance will automatically get the benefit card, or funds on their current card. In addition, families who have an approved application by March 4 will be eligible for the Summer EBT program.
To see if your family qualifies for this program, please review the FAQ and family income chart. Once you have reviewed the information and believe that you qualify for the program, visit our website at https://northview.familyportal.cloud/ to complete the application.
If your family has moved, it is very important that your mailing address is up-to-date at Northview by March 4. The MDHHS will use the mailing address on file at school to mail benefit cards later this year.
Questions regarding your benefit status can be directed to NVPS Food Service at jjager@nvps.net.
Questions about your Summer EBT card can be directed to MDHHS Summer EBT Help Desk at 833-905-0028 or MDHHS-PEBT@mighigan.gov.

School Musical
Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in a fantastical musical extravaganza. Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

School Nurse Updates
Medication cannot be brought to school by your student. A parent/guardian must bring in the medication to the front office. Medication, over-the -counter or prescription, must have the NVPS medication form filled out. A prescription medication requires that the prescriber of the medication sign the form. This is a district policy.
