From the Nurse's Office
Dear Parents/Guardians of 11th Graders:
Please review the Vaccine Information Sheet to learn more about the Meningococcal vaccine. Meningococcal disease causes inflammation of the lining of the spinal cord and brain. It is a very serious condition, which is why it is a requirement that all students enrolled in the 12th grade receive two doses of it before starting school, OR have had 1 dose after the age of 16. Therefore, over this next school year, you will need to ensure that your child is up to date on this vaccine. I encourage everyone to review this information and consider if you would like your child to receive this vaccine. Your primary clinic or the Marquette County Health Department (608-297-3135) are great options for scheduling an appointment for immunizations.
Please reach out to me if you would like to learn more information. I am happy to answer any questions.

Strategies for Digital Citizenship
Our students are diving into digital citizenship skills in class—learning about online safety, privacy, and the role of technology in daily life. But the conversation doesn’t have to stop there! You can help reinforce these important lessons by talking to students about topics like:
Privacy and Online Sharing: Ask your student what kinds of information should stay private online and why it’s important to be cautious about sharing.
Kindness Online: Discuss what it means to show empathy in digital spaces. You might ask, “How can we make others feel included online?”
Trustworthy Information: Encourage your student to think critically about what they read online by asking, “How do you know if a source is reliable?”
These conversations can help your student make safer, more thoughtful choices and carry their learning beyond the classroom!

Operation Backpack
The Montello School District is proud to work alongside our families to help our kids be their best! This is one of the reasons why we maintain a food pantry at school and provide a bag or pack of food choices to assist our students through weekends and holiday breaks. We call this Operation Backpack, and we are here to help.
If your student and/or family is in need of food support, please let us know! Complete this form to sign up. Operation Backpack will supply some simple food options on the last day of the school week, usually on a Friday. The bag or pack will be delivered to your student’s classroom for the child to take home and use. Bags or backpacks should be returned to school on Monday so they can be quarantined before the next use. The bags or packs will be sent to the same family each week. This program is open to all students and families; there are no limitations.
School Fees - Online Payment Option
There are annual Registration and Technology fees due each year on September 1st. For your convenience, these fees can be paid in the school office, and now also online through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal. You can also pay for your child's sports participation fee, school parking permit, athletic pass, and other optional fees. Any questions or for help logging into your parent portal account, please contact our District Registrar, Elizabeth Smith.
