Thank you to our amazing Eckstein families for your contributions of food and funds to provide lunch for our hard-working teachers and staff on Monday, bagels on Tuesday, gift cards on Wednesday, Coffee Cart on Thursday, and treats on Friday.

State Testing at Eckstein on Wednesdays during May

Smarter Balance Assessment (SBA) – 6th, 7th, 8th grade students
May 7: ELA PT (English/Language Arts Performance Task)
May 14: ELA CAT – plug-in headphones required (English/Language Arts Computer Adaptive Test)
May 21: Math CAT
May 28: Math PT
Students are testing with their homeroom teachers. Below you will see the daily schedule for these days. Cellphones are strictly prohibited during testing. Students caught looking at their cellphones for any reason will have their test voided. Please don't text your student during the school day.
To prepare for testing students should:
- Come to School On Time: It is important that your student is on-time to school to make sure we can start on-time.
- Charge laptops Every Night: Students will be testing on their laptops.
- Plug-In Headphones: For the testing on May 14th, students need to bring a pair of plug-in headphones. These can be over the ear or earbud style. They cannot be Bluetooth. We will have a limited number of headphones for students to borrow. We will accept donations if your family has any extra. Please note they do not need to be of the highest quality.
- Good Night’s Sleep: It is helpful for students to have a good night sleep and breakfast prior to the test. The cafeteria will be open prior to school starting for those who wish to pick up a breakfast.

As You Like It! - Eckstein Musical May 9 & 10 (7 pm)

Pre-purchased tickets will be at "Will Call" at the door on the day of the show.

Tickets will be available on SchoolPay until Wednesday 5/7 after that tickets can also be purchased at the door with cash or check only.
All children, including Eckstein students, must be accompanied by an adult to attend. Students arriving without an adult will be turned away at the door.
Eighth Grade Semi-Formal Dance - May 16 (7-9 pm)
The theme is "red carpet" and the attire is "semi-formal."
Tickets are $8 on SchoolPay until Thursday, May 15th at 3pm. If you need a scholarship, please talk to counseling before the day of the dance. Tickets must be pre-purchased on SchoolPay or cash/check to the Main Office, there will be no tickets sold at the door as we need accurate numbers for supervision and food planning and ease of getting kids in.

Reminders:
- Students need to have a 2024-25 Dance Contact in Final Forms by May 13 to attend. If your student turned in a contract for the 2024/25 7th/8th Grade Eagle night, they do not need to turn in another one.
- Students will enter from the courtyard into the cafeteria.
- NO backpacks allowed.
- There are no in-and-out privileges (meaning once you exit the building, you may not return).
- NO stiletto heels as they will ruin the gym floor.
- No running in the halls
- Absolutely NO pop-it’s or other fireworks
- The same school rules apply in the evenings too!
- If students are not following the rules, they will be asked to leave the dance immediately.
- Please pick up your students by 9:00 pm

Music in the Parks on May 3, 2025: Intermediate Jazz band, concert band and drumline all received 1st place. They received three 1st places and 1 best overall for concert band.

Seventh Grade fieldtrip to Lynnwood Skate & Bowl - June 17, 2025 - we still need 10 more volunteers.
Camp Orkila on October 14-16, 2025 - we still need 30 female chaperones & 34 male chaperones. If we don't have enough chaperones confirmed by June 10, 2025 we will cancel the fieldtrip.

Mental Health Week - May 12-16
This week is designed to support student wellness and stress management during testing season. Activities will take place in Portable 8 or outdoors, depending on the weather. Each day will focus on a different wellness theme:
- Monday – Yoga Day 🧘♂️
Calming movement and breathing to help students feel grounded and ready for the week.
- Tuesday – Coloring Day 🎨
A quiet, creative space where students can relax and de-stress before testing.
- Wednesday – No Activity (State Testing)
- Thursday – Cozy & Calm Day ☕
A chill zone with tea, soft lighting, and calm music to help students decompress after testing.
- Friday – Take What You Need Wall 💌
Students can write and take positive affirmations. The wall will be ongoing and student-driven, encouraging peers to support one another and help build a culture of kindness and care throughout the month.
We Need Tall Empty Pringles Cans with Lids
Our sixth grade student scientists need TALL Pringles cans with lids to 6th grade science. Pringles cans can be dropped off at the main office.
EAC Event: After School Special: 90s Class Reunion - June 6 @ 7 p.m.
After School Special: 90s Class Reunion
Friday, June 6 at 7:00pm
SeaFab Cafe, 1001 NE Boat St, Seattle
Tickets: $50 per person. 21+ event
Get out your best flannel shirts and oversized jeans, and join us at the 2nd Annual After School Special: 90’s Class Reunion. Your student’s favorite teachers will swap their lesson plans for guitars, drums, and microphones to perform 90s grunge, boy band, and pop hits in the Flock of Eagles staff band. Enjoy food, drinks, and community as we support a great cause.
All money raised will benefit the Student Support program at Eckstein Middle School. This program helps students access the resources they need to thrive in middle school, including scholarships, clothes, food, and much more. Our goal is to raise $35,000.

Lincoln Volleyball Summer Camp
July 9-11 - Rising 5th through 8th graders are welcome to join us for a half day (morning or afternoon) or full day camp run by the Lincoln Volleyball players. Half day sessions are from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm or 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm and are $150 per camper. Full day camp is from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm (lunch not included) and Is $275 per camper. All campers get a t-shirt and all proceeds go directly to the Lincoln Volleyball program.
