In our RE newsletter, All Things RE, you'll find important and interesting information about Religious Education and Family Programming.
Trunk or Treat
Thanks for all who make Trunk or Treat such a Spooktacular event! A good time was had by all!
Nursery
The nursey will continue to be staffed weekly for the entire length of the service with one to two nursery assistants, depending on the number of toddlers.
Religious Education (RE) Classes
Visitors are always welcome in our Kindergarten-to-Second Grade and Third-to-Sixth Grade classes, and registration is open throughout the year. Given the sensitive nature of the Our Whole Lives curriculum, registration for this class is now closed.
The Kindergarten-to-Second Grade Class will continue working with the UUA World of Wonder curriculum that explores our Unitarian Universalist seventh Principle, respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part, and appreciation of its beauty, excitement, and mystery. Upcoming classes on in November will explore Life Cycles, Life-Giving Plants, Creativity in Nature, and Joy in Nature: Animal Play. Key goals of the sessions are are to appreciate the magnificents of metamorphosis and emphasize science as a Source in Unitarian Universalism, and to explore the diversity and abundance of plant life, the creativity of animals, and the similarities between humans and animals through play.
The Third-to-Sixth Grade Class will be using the UUA Moral Tales Curriculum that addresses the many issues that our children face and the difficult decisions and situations they must address. Moral Tales attempts to provide children with the spiritual and ethical tools they will need to make choices and take actions reflective of their Unitarian Universalist beliefs and values. Concepts explored include forgiveness, appreciation of others, and the importance of treating others as you would want to be treated ("The Golden Rule").
The Our Whole Lives (OWL) curriculum for Middle and early High School students was developed by the UUA and UCC with the goal of helping participants make informed and responsible decisions about their relationships, health and behavior. OWL classes will be held November 10th, 17th, and 24th.
