Read All About It- February 1- 29
It's February!
We hope that January was a great start to the new year for everyone! It has been super busy at AH! February will be full of events! Please make sure to read all of the information carefully. We appreciate all of your support!
Just a friendly reminder to make sure your child's emergency contacts are updated in Powerschool. It's always a good idea to double-check this information periodically, especially if you've had any changes in your contact details, moved, or added new people to your child's emergency list. Keeping this information current helps the school contact you in a timely manner. Thank you!
SNAP Embassadors
All 3rd and 4th grade students participated in the Special Needs Awareness Program (SNAP) in which students learned first-hand what life may be like for someone perceived as "different".
At its core, this program is simply about reaching out, especially when they see another person struggling with a task or being excluded by his or her peers.
SNAP is helping students understand why it is important to advocate for a child who needs a hand. SNAP's motto "kindness is cool" acknowledges that while it is not always easy for kids to step outside of a comfort zone, to resist bullying or befriend a child who needs support, it is the right step.
We are very proud of our 5th grade SNAP trainers:

Makerspace
Our Makerspace school wide enrichment experience is in full swing with our 4th grade students during this second semester. They are having a lot of fun working with Ms. Barrett and their classroom teachers. I know our 5th grade students are looking forward to their time in makerspace in the Spring.
A makerspace for enrichment is a creative, hands-on learning environment designed to encourage exploration, innovation, and problem-solving skills through various activities and tools.
Some benefits of a makerspace for enrichment include:
1. Fostering Creativity and Innovation
2. Encouraging Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking
3. Building Practical Skills
4. Collaboration and Community
5. STEM and STEAM Learning
Our Makerspace model serves as a valuable enrichment tool for supplementing traditional education and empowering all of our students to become creators and innovators.
Community Celebration
We’re excited to announce our 4th annual International Night, a special event celebrating the rich diversity of our community. This evening is all about coming together to learn, share, and connect through culture, food, music, art, and traditions.
We are excited to add a learning experience for all students at AH, during the school day. As you may know students have been researching (maybe interviewing you/ family members) about their culture, traditions, norms etc. They will be presenting their research to their classmates during the school day. We are all very excited to see their rich presentation.
The evening events kicks off promptly at 6:30 with a mini talent show where dance groups will share cultural dances/music. After these cultural experiences attendees will also have time to circulate among the various locations where they will travel to different countries and learn about each of the countries rich traditions.
NOTE: There are a few spots remaining for enthusiastic presenters who would like to contribute to this meaningful event. Share your unique heritage, customs, or experiences with others through:
• Cultural displays
• Traditional clothing
• Music or dance
• Food tastings
• Arts and crafts
• Storytelling or presentations
Whether you represent a country, region, or cultural tradition, we’d love to have you as part of this special night!
Event Details:
• Date: 2/20/25
• Time: 6:30-8:00 PM
• Location: Alexander Hamilton School
