It’s that time of year again! Please take a moment to sign our Roosevelt School-Parent Compact.
What is the School-Parent Compact?
The Roosevelt School-Parent Compact is a shared agreement that describes how parents, students, and school staff will work together towards a common goal of student achievement in alignment with the State’s high academic standards. This compact demonstrates the importance of a partnership and outlines key roles that each member is responsible for in order to support student learning throughout the school year.
How to review and sign?
Parents/guardians you have 2 options to sign the compact. There is a digital compact and signature form (visit the link below) or you can sign a physical paper copy at Parent Teacher Conferences. Note: If you have more than one child at Roosevelt you will have to fill out a digital form or sign a paper copy for EACH student.
Teachers review and sign the compact prior to conferences.
Students review and sign the compact, at school, with their teacher and classmates.

Important Transporation Update
As you may already be aware, our district is facing a critical shortage of bus drivers at this time. This continues to be a nationwide issue and one that our LPS Transportation Department has been working diligently to address over the past several weeks.
Every effort has been made to staff all bus routes – from utilizing certified drivers from other LPS departments, to contracting with third-party transportation companies to fill the gaps in our staffing. In short, our team has utilized every tool in its toolbox, in order to staff every bus route, amid the staffing shortages.
Despite the absolute best efforts of every staff member in our Transportation Department, we are at a critical staffing shortages.
This may mean bus cancellations for Roosevelt. Please note we will notify you of any cancellations prior to. We are hopeful that this is a very short-term measure, as we do have newly hired drivers who are undergoing training and we anticipate that they will be able to drive routes in the near future.
Please know, all students who have specialized transportation plans that are contained in an IEP will NOT see a disruption in service. Also, at this time, all “shuttle” services and connector services will NOT be affected (ACAT, MACAT, MSC, CAPA, LCTC).
We know that together, we will get through this challenge.
Thank you for your partnership and your patience.

From Mrs. Serazio
Tiger Tuesdays are off to a great start at Roosevelt! All students are encouraged to show their Tiger pride on Tuesdays by wearing Roosevelt gear or our school colors of blue and orange!
Our PBIS expectation focus for next week will be in the cafeteria. We are working on keeping our cafeteria clean and holding students responsible for cleaning up their messes after eating. Please talk with your child about how they eat and clean up in the cafeteria. We are also looking for volunteers to assist in the cafeteria any day from 11:40-12:30. If you can help, please let Mrs. Serazio know at jserazio2@livoniapublicschools.org. Thank you in advance!
PBIS
Thank you to all the families who returned the PBIS commitment sheet included with our pamphlet. Our staff and students are dedicated to being respectful, responsible, and safe as stated in our Positive Behavior Matrix. Students can earn “red tickets” for following the matrix expectations. Every Friday, teachers pull two red tickets, and the students can come to the lobby for a special prize!
Medications and Health Information - Please read!
If your child has a medical condition and/or requires medication at school, please download the forms your child needs for school, based on their health conditions (Life-Threatening Food and/or Insect Allergy, Allergy IHCP, Asthma, Diabetes, Seizure Disorder). New forms must be completed by you and your child’s physician each year (dated after the last day of school of the previous school year). Please ensure that the forms include both your signature and your child’s doctor’s signature. We cannot dispense any medication without these completed forms. Forms can be found on our school website under the parent tab as “Health Forms”.
Medications and forms can be brought to the school office anytime moving forward. Don't delay in sharing medical updates as you get updated information.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Serazio at jserazio2@livoniapublicschools.org.

Art with Ms. Salvia
2nd-4th grade students learned about line in art. Line is an element of art, or something an artist uses to create an artwork. We welcomed the first days of the fall season by designing our own spiderwebs using diagonal lines, curved lines, and watercolor pencils.
Our Young 5's through 1st grade continued our "Alphabet Soup" projects. This week, we added paint to make our soup bowls look full of alphabet soup! Next week, we will add a spoon and napkin to really make our alphabet soup look delicious.
See you next week!
Ms. Salvia
PLTW with Mr. Morrow
Hello families and young scientists!
This week in PLTW, our students took their curiosity to new heights as they explored exciting scientific concepts through hands-on activities!
- 4th Graders dove deep into the fascinating world of octopuses! They identified how these incredible creatures would react in various situations, highlighting which specific structures the octopus would use to survive and thrive.
- 3rd Graders had an exciting time with the VEX IQ kits, beginning to build their own simple machines. It was all about creativity and problem-solving as they turned ideas into real working models!
- 2nd Graders continued their exploration of the properties of matter, learning about solids, liquids, and gases. A highlight of the week was an engaging activity that demonstrated how air takes up space!
- 1st Graders revisited their sound centers and had the chance to reflect on what they learned, sharing their thoughts and favorite moments from the experiments.
- Kindergarteners reviewed the basic needs of living things. Using sorting cards, they identified different plants and animals and discovered what each one needs to survive.
We look forward to more hands-on learning and discovery next week!

LMC with Mr. Pinta
This week students in second, third, and fourth grade focused on Chromebook safety. Students participated in a lesson using Curipod, and interactive slide show presentation, and followed it up with a game of Kahoot! The lesson covered carrying our Chromebooks, caring for them, cleaning them, and troubleshooting problems. With all of the traveling students will be doing with their Chromebook to and from the library, a lesson on Chrombook safety and care made sense. Next week we'll begin our Digital Citizenship unit. Our Young Five, Kindergarten and first grade students listened to "Creepy Carrots" by Aaron Reynolds and worked on an activity to accompany it.
Students are able to win a special award for positive behavior in all specials. Classrooms who win the award in every special throughout the week win the "Grand Slam." Congratulations to Mrs. Halimi's second graders for winning the grand slam last week. They were awarded a gold coin and got to shop at the vending machine during their library period this week. Great work!!
Mr. Pinta
Music with Ms. Grammatico
It's Hispanic Heritage Month and we are celebrating in the music room!
3rd and 4th graders learned a cup routine to the song "La Raspa" also known as the Mexican hat dance. They also read rhythms and played instruments to the song "Los Machetes." We will continue learning about Hispanic Heritage throughout the month.
Kindergarten through 2nd grade continued the songs they have been learning since the beginning of the year. They also learned the dance to "La Raspa!"
