For Families Needed Assistance
Fueling Kids’ Futures
Dear Spencer Families:
If your child qualified for the Free and Reduced Meal Program last year or this year, s/he can also participate in the Fueling Kids' Futures program (formerly Blessings in a Backpack). This program sends six non-perishable meals home each Friday of the school year in your child's backpack. Its goal is to make sure that no child goes hungry on the weekend. This program is run by volunteers, there is no cost to you.
To enroll in this program, please download and print the form below. Contact the office if you are unable to print the form and one will be sent home with your student. The first backpack of food will be sent home today.
Counselor's Corner
Hello from your Spencer Elementary School Counselor! I am so excited to welcome you all back for another amazing year! I am so excited to be full time at Spencer this year to better support our students and families. I will be available for classroom lessons, small group activities, and individual support for our students. This month's classroom lessons will focus on fostering friendships and building connections with our peers as we focus on Solidarity as a district. The Elementary Counseling Team also has the BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home throughout the school year with more updates to come! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have, and I will do my best to support your child. Love, Mrs. McKiddy Spencer Elementary School Counselor https://sites.google.com/brightonk12.com/bas-elementary-counseling/home
BAS Mental Health & Wellness
As a district, it is our mission to provide a rigorous, meaningful, and well-rounded education that will inspire each student to achieve their personal best. BAS believes that each student and staff member can reach their full potential when challenged to do their best, with an open mind, and with an unwavering commitment to personal growth.
We continue to increase our efforts to support each person's mental health and wellness with resources, time, and experiences. This information and much more can be found on the BAS Wellness & Mental Health website or download the app by typing in Brighton Area Schools on iTunes or Google Play.
Just In Case Clothes
Parents - Please make sure you pack a change of clothes (that are weather appropriate) in your child's backpack EVERY DAY. This is for ALL students, grades JK-4th, you never know when your student may have a nosebleed, or loose a tooth, or spill food/milk on their shirt, or find a mud puddle outside, or have a bathroom accident. If your student keeps a change of clothing in their backpack, then we can take care of it here, otherwise we need you to bring up a change of clothes. Thank you for your cooperation.
