Steck Save the Dates
Dear Steck Families,
We are looking forward to the start of the school year. Below are some important dates that you may want to know. Whether you are new to Steck or a returning family, please be sure to read these updates below. I will send a back to school email with more information to all families in August.
The Steck office is open during the summer Monday through Thursday. The office will return to normal hours (Monday through Friday 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.) the week of August 12.
If your child will not start school on the first day (August 22), please call the Steck office (630.375.3500). We need to update our records for student attendance.
PTA membership is now open! Steck PTA supports our school in many ways. Please join by clicking this link.
Enjoy the rest of the summer!
Sincerely,
Dr. Pohlmann
Principal
Dismissal Plan
If you have not yet done it, please complete this dismissal plan survey (one per child). This tells us how your child will go home each day and helps us to keep our students safe.
School Supplies
You can find the Steck school supply lists on our school website and here. Supplies can be dropped off at Meet the Teacher (8/19) or brought on the first day of school. If you ordered a school supply kit from the Steck PTA, the supply kit will be delivered to your child's classroom for Meet the Teacher. If you cannot attend Meet the Teacher, the kit will be in your child's classroom on the first day of school.
Teacher Assignments (8/12)
Teacher assignments for all elementary school students will be available in ParentVUE after 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12. Students that are not fully registered will not have a teacher assigned.
New-to-Steck Orientation (8/15)
We are excited to welcome our new students to the Steck family. We will host an orientation on August 15 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at Steck. Enter through door 12. This orientation is for students in grades 1-5 that are new to Steck this year. The orientation will include a brief presentation about Steck procedures and allow for question/answer time. Since we will still be working on preparing the building for the opening of school, there will not be a tour at this event. Incoming kindergarten families will learn the same information at the kindergarten lunch earlier in the day and should not attend this event.
Kindergarten Lunch (8/16)
We are excited to host a special lunch date with the principal on August 16. Parents/guardians are invited to have lunch with their kindergarten student. Since we will still be working on preparing the building for the opening of school, there will not be a tour at this event. We hope to see you there!

Meet the Teacher (8/19)
One my favorite days of the year is Meet the Teacher! It's always wonderful to see the excitement of back to school time. Save the date for August 19 from 8:30-9:30 a.m.! This event will allow for a quick drop off of school supplies and a chance to meet the teacher. Due to our summer floor replacement project, Meet the Teacher will be outdoors this year. Students and families can meet the teacher outside and are welcome to drop off supplies inside the building near the classroom. Supplies can be dropped off at Meet the Teacher or on the first day of school - whatever works best for you. Classrooms will be closed on Meet the Teacher. Individual supplies do not need to be labeled for Meet the Teacher since classes will take care of labeling and sorting in our first days of school. If you cannot attend Meet the Teacher, your child should bring supplies on the first day of school. If you ordered a school supply kit from the Steck PTA, it will be in your child's classroom at Meet the Teacher. Please note that this date is the first day back to school for teachers. We will have teacher meetings immediately following Meet the Teacher so it will end promptly at 9:30 a.m.
Kindergarten Classroom Orientation (8/21)
We will host a classroom orientation for kindergarten on August 21. Parents/guardians attend with the kindergarten child during their scheduled time. Please park in the school parking lot, on the street, or walk to school and enter through door 2. This event allows for families to learn more about the kindergarten day by attending a presentation from the classroom teacher. Kindergarten students can drop off supplies at this orientation if supplies were not dropped off at Meet the Teacher.
August 21 - Student Last Name A-L 4:15-4:45 p.m.
August 21 - Student Last Name M-Z 5:00-5:30 p.m.
The first day of school for kindergarten is Thursday, August 22.
First Day of School (8/22)
The first day of school for all students (grades K-5) will be Thursday, August 22. It is a full day of school for all students.
Curriculum Night (8/27)
Curriculum Night is an opportunity for parents/guardians to learn more about the grade level curriculum from the classroom teacher. This event is for parents/guardians only.
