ADMIN MESSAGE

Winter has arrived! It’s hard to believe we have reached the end of 2024! We look forward to all that 2025 will have to offer our staff and students.


December has been full of fun! We wrap up all of the holiday festivities with our PK Unplugged event. Please join us for this fun evening of music. Doors open at 6:00. We have hosted many musical events this month with concerts from both our general and instrumental music students. SU hosted crafting, decorating, building, and answering holiday trivia all month. We also wrote holiday cards to our veterans. Pickleball was in full swing for intramurals as well! Our French Immersion students all celebrated Le Réveillon. It’s been so fun to be a Blue!


We will host our annual pancake breakfast before early dismissal on December 20th, followed by the PK Winter Classic Cup hockey game (PK Staff vs. Students) over at Servus Place at 11:30. Our PK team buses will shuttle kids over to the arena for those that don’t have a ride. Space is limited, so please try to get there on your own if you can!


We have many more exciting things happening at Paul Kane in the New Year, so please take the time to read through all that we have to offer for January. Watch our social media posts for more information and to catch up on our day to day.


We wish all of our families a fantastic break and look forward to welcoming all of our Blues back to school on Monday, January 6th. Happy Holidays to you all!

PK Winter Classic Cup

Friday Dec 20 we are hosting our annual hockey game @ Servus Place Performance Area. Puck drops at 11:30am.

WINTER MUSICAL

Tickets for this year's Musical Theatre production of Mamma Mia are on SOLD OUT!


The students are excited to perform ! The musical runs January 7 - 10th.

GRAD - PHOTOS

The first round of Grad Photos and grad gown sizing took place December 11-18. Please go to our website for information on how to book a retake appointment on January 8 & 9 if required. All Grads must get their photo taken as it will be the photo used in the yearbook.

GRAD - FUNDRAISER

Gift Cards: When you purchase a gift card from Bloom Stones Floral and Gift 20% goes to PK Grad 2025. The fundraiser runs Jan 06 - Feb 06. Click here to go to their website for more information.

MARKS

Your account in the PowerSchool Parent Portal allows you to view grades. If you don’t have a Parent Login, please contact shirley.bowles@spschools.org or 780-459-4405. As soon as you have set up your account, you will be able to view Grades, Attendance, School Fees, Bulletins and communicate with teachers.

MYPASS

To check credits, diploma marks and to order transcripts your child needs to register on myPass. You can find your child’s Alberta Student Numbers (ASN) on PowerSchool.

Facts about Fast Tracking


Many students come to see us at this time of year to discuss fast tracking. There are many things to consider when choosing to fast track a course:


  1. Do I have a mark that indicates a high level of mastery of the content in the pre-requisite course?
  2. Do I have the recommendation from my current teacher stating that I am ready for the next level of that subject?
  3. After meeting with my parents, do we feel, when we look at the demands of my schedule, that I will have the time and effort to succeed in a higher level class?
  4. Do I realize that there is typically only space to do a course once. A fast track is not a practice run.


  • Fast track spots are not guaranteed. Students in that particular grade are given first priority for available spots in each course.
  • Fast track forms will be given out Jan.6-9.
  • Fast track requests will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

Don’t forget to order one of these great keepsakes. Sign on to your PowerSchool Parent account and click on the Student Fees “Additional Items” section. Click on the Yearbook 2024-2025 Icon to add it to your cart. You need to pay for the yearbook before exiting the screen in order for your order to be processed.
