Hot lunches and breakfast will be available in the cafeteria. Breakfast will be free for all students.

Your family may be eligible for free or reduced lunches as well. Unless your child is directly certified by the state for free meals, an application must be completed each year. Applying is free, easy, and confidential.

August 31st is the last day to order shirts.

Our Chromebooks have arrived. Unlike in recent years, we will not be checking out Chromebooks to students. Each 2nd - 5th Grade classroom has been assigned enough Chromebooks so that there is one device to every 2 students for use throughout the day. This means that homework will not be assigned on the Chromebooks as it may have been in previous years.

WBGT Means and Methods of Measurement when activities are outside in WBGT of 80.0 or higher

• New statutes recommend that schools utilize a scientifically approved instrument that measures Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) or another scientifically proven method, such as an internet-based weather station software or application, to monitor the wet bulb globe temperature.

Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) is the recommended forecast measurement to be used in PfISD to monitor environmental conditions during outdoor physical activities. WBGT estimates the effect of temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and solar radiation using a combination of temperatures from three thermometers.

What does this mean for us? When the WBGT monitoring app states that there is a rating of above 92.0, our students will be unable to go to recess or PE outside. This has occurred only a few times thus far this year (on the 108 degree days). On these days, all students were still able to go out to their earlier recess and accommodations were, and will continue to be made for indoor activity. (We are in the Class 3 area in the chart listed below). This chart also pertains to practices at the secondary level.

• School times are officially 7:30 - 2:50. Students are tardy at 7:35.
• The building opens daily at 7:05 to allow students in.
• Breakfast is served beginning at 7:05.
• The office is open from 7:05 - 3:30.

For the safety of all students, family members are not allowed in the Cafeteria during Breakfast or Lunches

Lunch Times - Parents will be able to join their child(ren) for lunch through a sign-up sheet. We have seating for five families per lunchtime. We ask that families sign up for no more than one time per week to eat with their child. Parents may only bring food for/ eat lunch with their own child at the tables outside of the cafeteria in Central Park. Friends will be unable to join families for lunch. Please be mindful that you will need your driver's license to be able to check into our Raptor System for lunch. Please allow time for this process.

Changes In Going Home Method - Clear Communication is imperative to help us ensure that our students are sent home through the proper methods each day. If you need to change the way your student goes home, please send a note with your child to the teacher stating this. It may be helpful to even send an email to cover all bases. If an emergency occurs, and a last minute change must take place, please call the office before 2:00 so that a message may be delivered to your child’s teacher. Phone or email messages are not a reliable form of communication in this situation. Also, please make sure this is a rare occurrence and only used in emergency situations.

Please go ahead and complete the Volunteer Background Check if you would like to volunteer/help or visit campus or attend field trips. This must be completed annually, but the procedures this year have been simplified through another system.
