Student Transportation Information
Prohibited items on a school bus (per Washington State WAC 392-145-021):
Heavy, sharp, bulky and/or other articles which may be hazardous in the event of
an accident or an emergency stop shall not be transported unsecured in the
passenger area of any school bus. Specific attention is directed to items such as
skis, ski poles, vaulting poles, large musical instruments, riser platforms, etc. In
no case will items be secured in such a manner as to impede access to any exit.
Items which shall not be transported within the passenger area of a school bus
includes all forms of animal life (except service animals), firearms, weapons,
breakable containers, flammables and all other articles which could adversely
affect the safety of the school bus and passengers.
Items such as skateboards/folding scooters are allowed for high school students if
they are secured in a skateboard backpack or bag. Musical instruments must
be in their cases and secured between the knees of the student while on the bus.
Breakfast & Lunch are Free
Through a partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), school meals will be available to all VPS students at no cost. While each student will continue to have a food service account, students will not be required to enter their PIN (personal identification number) to access school meals. No cash, checks or online payments will be accepted by Nutrition Services Staff this school year since all meals are served at no cost to families.
Parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to submit a Meal Application even though all school meals are available at no cost. Families qualifying for free or reduced-price meals may be eligible for waived or reduced fees to participate in other school or community programs. The district also receives additional funding to meet our students’ needs, based on the number of eligible students confirmed by these applications. Meal Applications can be downloaded from the district website or are available in each school office. Additionally, families may complete a Meal Application online. Parents only need to complete one Meal Application for all students in their household.

psat school-day opportunity 2021
PSAT School-Day Opportunity 2021
This year, in addition to Sophomores, VPS is offering Juniors the opportunity to take the PSAT on October 13, 2021.
Vancouver Public Schools will offer 10th and 11th grade students the opportunity to take the PSAT exam, free of charge, as part of PSAT School Day Program. This ensures that students will have the chance to take the exam during the school day, despite conflicts to standard Saturday testing (such as part-time jobs or family responsibilities). Additionally, by providing students the exam free of charge, the district has removed any financial challenges that may otherwise reduce participation.
We encourage all 10th and 11th grade students to participate in the PSAT School Day exam.
***Some things to consider on test day: Students will be required to follow COVID guidelines, including masks, and will be attending classes after taking the test on this day. The test is approximately 3 hours long.
STUDENTS MUST SIGN UP VIA https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfRxjdn-a19Y2w3n8-7RO1Nf98dhENOREjqxmq-g2HPQYdJHA/viewform BY SEPTEMBER 5th at 3:00 PM TO TAKE THE TEST. Those who do not respond by this deadline will not be taking the exam.
Thank you for your timely response.
