Metro RESA is excited to announce several openings for Let's Read, Georgia (LRG) Literacy Coaching Specialist positions for the 2025-2026 school year!
We're seeking dedicated educators with a passion for early literacy and a strong background in structured literacy practices. This is a unique opportunity to make a statewide impact by supporting K-3 educators through professional development, coaching, and the implementation of the Georgia Early Literacy Act.

Diving Deeper Series - Summer Intensive Sessions Open for Registration
The Metro RESA ELA team will repeat our Diving Deeper Series on Georgia's New K-12 Standards as a summer intensive session. This session will address all four domains over two days. Please note that the summer intensive sessions are for educators who did not have an opportunity to attend the sessions on the new ELA standards that MRESA offered in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.

Hosting a Family Math Night

The Coaching Endorsement is a one-year hybrid program supporting candidates from across the state of Georgia. Courses meet via Zoom and include job-embedded field experiences in the school setting where candidate is employed. Candidates who complete the Coaching Endorsement Program will gain knowledge and skills to lead coaching cycles around student learning, lead data-focused conversations, and facilitate group protocols. Program completers will be able to use intentional communication skills to build coaching partnerships with colleagues and lead collaborative learning teams. Candidates will gain the dispositions and skills to support a coaching culture with individuals and team of teachers. This endorsement is designed to support teachers who hold a clear, renewable Georgia teaching certificate (T4 or higher) in any teaching, service, or leadership field. The application window is open for the next cohorts which will begin in August 2025 and end in May 2026. Space will be limited, so plan to apply early.

MRESA is now registering for new cohorts for the Gifted Endorsement program beginning in August 2025! These cohorts will begin in August 2025 and conclude in May 2026. Each course typically meets once per week in a blend of synchronous and asynchronous sessions beginning at 5:30pm. Class times may be adjusted to meet the needs of the cohort.

The Intervention Specialist Endorsement is open for registration. Candidates who complete the Intervention Specialist Endorsement Program will gain knowledge and skills to match instruction and assessment to the GA Content Standards. Program completers will be able to identify appropriate interventions to increase the success of at-risk students. Candidates will gain the dispositions and skills to improve the collaboration of learning teams in the areas of data analysis, professional learning, and communication with stakeholders. This endorsement is designed to support teachers who hold a clear, renewable Georgia teaching certificate (induction, professional, advanced professional, or lead professional) in: Elementary Education (P-5), Special Education General Curriculum Elementary Education (P-5), Middle Grades Education (with a language arts and/or mathematics area of concentration), or Special Education General Curriculum (with a language arts and/or mathematics concentration).The application window is open for the next cohorts which will begin in August 2025 and end in May 2026.

Spotlighting Excellence: Transforming Literacy Instruction at AASD: A Strategic Investment in Student Success
The Atlanta Area School for the Deaf (AASD) is proud to spotlight the impactful work of Dr. Marie Hall, our new Structured Literacy Coach, who brings a visionary approach to early literacy development. Since the beginning of the school year, Dr. Hall has led a dynamic initiative to elevate reading proficiency for the students at Atlanta Area School for the Deaf. Dr. Hall has established herself as a key instructional leader and catalyst for change.
With a strong foundation in evidence-based practices, Dr. Hall partners closely with teachers to design curriculum-aligned lesson plans and secure high-impact resources that enrich instruction. Her hands-on approach includes modeling lessons, conducting classroom observations, and providing targeted feedback to strengthen teaching practices. By introducing grade-specific pacing charts and data-driven analysis, she ensures that instruction remains focused and responsive to student needs.
Dr. Hall’s coaching model promotes a culture of collaboration and professional growth. Through ongoing planning sessions, structured coaching cycles, and teacher-led training, she empowers educators to implement effective literacy strategies with confidence. Her leadership extends beyond instruction—she celebrates teacher successes with recognition and incentives, fosters trust through consistent support, and builds a shared commitment to excellence.
Notably, Dr. Hall has embraced American Sign Language and Deaf culture with enthusiasm, further deepening her connection to the AASD community. Dr. Hall is committed and dedicated to transforming literacy in Deaf education by being collaborative, inclusive and the use of culturally responsive practices.
Leveraging Learning: Instructional Coaches Christie Giddens and Tracy Weekes Supporting SLAM ATLANTA's Progress
At SLAM Atlanta, instructional coaches Christi Giddens and Tracy Weekes are making a powerful impact through their dedicated support of teachers, students, and staff. Their commitment to excellence is seen daily in the way they guide instructional practices, leverage literacy practices, and impact instructional growth. Christi and Tracy are focused on enhancing collaborative planning, ensuring that teachers work together effectively to design engaging lessons to promote mastery of the standards. Their professional learning sessions are purposeful- designed to build teacher capacity and strengthen instructional practices. A key focus of their work is their increased focus of MTSS—providing systems of support that are timely, targeted, and responsive. They are also operationalizing coaching sessions with fidelity, ensuring consistency, reflection, and results. Their use of formative assessments and data analysis has become a catalyst for instructional improvement. By helping teachers analyze and respond to data, they are helping to inform instructional needs, pivot practices to promote growth, close learning gaps, and accelerate progress for all learners. New teachers especially benefit from their tiered and tailored support. One teacher working toward certification shared that the guidance of the coaches and impact of the collaborative planning sessions were essential to her success, saying, “Because of their PL classes and collaborative planning supports, my GACE assessment was accomplished with greater levels of ease.” The Learning Light Shines Brightly on Christi Giddens and Tracy Weekes!
