NSSEO Strategic Plan Update
Special Recognition - Newly Tenured Staff
Shining Stars - District 211
Our Shining Stars are being highlighted and recognized for their successful participation at NSSEO’s Outdoor Education Center during District 211’s ESY 2024, starting June 3rd through July 18th.
New Endeavor's mission is to establish a positive and supportive learning community in which students develop academic, emotional, and life skills that will help them succeed beyond high school. District 211 teaching staff working at Sunrise facilitated the growth of positive peer and adult relationships, appropriate social skills, and the acceptance of personal responsibility for behaviors and choices.
Expectations were established to ensure that all members of the New Endeavors learning community facilitate student transition into productive and constructive adulthood. Student learning focused on the following:
Developing individual strengths
Expanding communication and social skills for transition to workplace/post-secondary training
Participating in a comprehensive educational program
Maintaining a safe learning environment that promotes and facilitates academic excellence
Helping students develop positive adult and peer relationships
Promoting positive behavior through the Positive Peer Culture program
Supporting student's emotional needs to facilitate effective classroom learning
Providing support to parents, which promoted academic achievement and school attendance
These seven students, Brendan, Max, Jett, Justin, Darius (and two others not pictured due to photo permissions), demonstrated initiative, communicated with teaching staff, practiced flexibility, led with on-time/on-task behaviors, and all with zero injuries. We recognize each of you as leaders in our NSSEO/District 211 learning community by your willingness to invest and be role models while practicing excellence. Thank you for setting the bar high. Finally, and most importantly, we celebrate you as contributing members of our community.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing
The first day of the 2024-2025 school year at our Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Programs was filled with excitement and connection! Students reunited with old friends and met new friends through interactive lessons that engaged their communication skills in fun ways. The energy in the classrooms spoke volumes about how meaningful and deep the friendships in this program are. The bonds that all of these students share are a genuinely heartwarming thing to experience. Not only will it shape another amazing year for all of them, it will shape an amazing kinship that will carry throughout their lives.
