October Connections: Growing Together at Cherry Lane
Dear Cherry Lane Families,
We are off to a great start! Our students are adjusting well to the new school year and settling into their routines. They are getting to know their teachers, building friendships, and making meaningful connections in their classrooms and around the school. Many are also learning their way around the building and growing more comfortable with our daily procedures.
In addition to academics, students are getting involved in various activities and exploring new interests. They’re embracing the opportunities for creativity and collaboration, whether it’s through hands-on projects, group discussions, or new classroom experiences. This time of year, is always exciting as students become more engaged and build confidence in their learning.
We are particularly excited about the month of October—there’s a lot happening! Be sure to read ahead for important updates and upcoming events, including celebrations and opportunities for families to stay connected with our school community.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to a wonderful month ahead!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Aguilar
Principal, Cherry Lane Elementary
Upcoming Events
Meet the Teacher Night
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences are just around the corner on Thursday, September 24th, and Tuesday, September 29th. School will dismiss early on both days at 11:40 AM. These conferences provide a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, strengths, and areas for growth, helping to strengthen the partnership between home and school. Conferences will be held in person unless you request a virtual meeting.
Be on the lookout for forms to come home on Monday October 7th. We are asking for families
to complete and return them by October 14th. Your timely response will help us schedule a convenient time to meet. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to connecting with you during Parent-Teacher Conferences!
Hearts & Soles United: Socktober and Unity Day Celebration
On Unity Day, we’re inviting all students and staff to wear orange and stand together in support of a bully-free school. By wearing orange on October 16th, we show our unity and commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and kind environment for everyone. This special day is a reminder that together, we can make a difference and ensure that everyone feels valued and respected.
Let’s come together, take a stand against bullying, and promote kindness and inclusion in our school community. Join us on Unity Day, and let’s wear orange to show that we’re united for a better, kinder future!
This October, we’re bringing our community together with Hearts & Soles United, a month-long celebration of kindness and togetherness! First, we’ll kick off with Socktober, where students, staff, and families can donate new warm socks to help those in need and spread warmth in our local community. Every pair of socks makes a difference and shows that we care from head to toe!
Then, on Unity Day, we’ll stand together by wearing orange on October 16th to promote kindness, inclusion, and a bully-free school. By uniting in orange, we show our commitment to creating a safe, supportive environment for everyone. Join us as we step up for kindness, connection, and unity throughout the month!

Achievement
Instrument Lessons
Instrument lessons have officially started, and the excitement is in the air! Our strings and band programs are up and running, with students eager to learn and explore their musical talents. From violins to trumpets, students are diving into the world of music, building skills, and developing a passion for their instruments.
Student Engagement
Student engagement is thriving in every classroom! Our students are hard at work, fully immersed in meaningful activities that challenge their thinking and spark their curiosity.
Character
Character Educations Recognition
This September, we proudly recognized students who exemplified the character trait of motivation as part of our Character Education program. These students showed exceptional drive and determination in their work, consistently putting forth their best effort and inspiring others with their positive attitudes. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication, and we look forward to watching them continue to grow and succeed throughout the year!
We are Mountie Tigers!
Mrs. Langenmayr spent time teaching students about the Kids of Character Pledge, focusing on what it means to be a true MOUNTIE. She guided them through the powerful words that make up the pledge: Motivated, Open-hearted, Upstanding Citizen, Noble, Trustworthy, Integrity, and Empathetic. Students reflected on these values and learned how they can embody them each day. It was a great lesson in character, showing our students how to be the best versions of themselves!
The Power of Yet!
In Mrs. Hock's 3rd grade class, students have been busy writing their goals for the year, fully embracing the "Power of Yet." With a focus on growth mindset, they are learning that success comes through perseverance and hard work, and that it's okay to say, "I haven’t mastered it yet!" By setting personal goals, Mrs. Hock’s students are building confidence and a positive attitude toward learning—an exciting start to their journey this year!
