September is Attendance Awareness Month!
During the month of September we will have grade-level attendance competitions!
Each week in September, the grade level with the highest percentage of students in attendance will receive an extra recess.
Grade-level winners will be announced each Friday in September, and the extra recess will be rewarded on the following Monday morning.
Our Apex Leadership Team
Returns to WCHE 9/17 - 9/26
As the new school year begins, we at Apex Leadership Co want to offer a special resource to help you and your family kick off this exciting time. We're excited to share the above set of inspirational lunchbox notes designed to add a touch of positivity and encouragement to your child's day.
Why Lunchbox Notes Matter
These small but meaningful messages can have a significant impact on your child's day. Whether it’s a reminder of how much they are loved, a boost of confidence before a test, or an encouraging word to help them through a tough day, these notes can inspire and motivate them to bring their best selves to everything they do
.
Our Mission at Apex Leadership Co
At Apex Leadership Co, our mission is to build leaders by empowering kids to believe in themselves and their abilities. We believe that strong leadership begins at a young age, and it is our goal to provide tools and experiences that foster these values.
Here’s to a fantastic new school year filled with growth, learning, and leadership!
Have the best day,
Your Apex Leadership Team
Hello WCHE families,
We have had a great start to the school year in the counseling program. I had a great time meeting our students new to WCHE during our New Student Lunch Bunch. This gave me the opportunity to introduce myself to all of the new students in grades 1-5, learn a little about each of them, allow them to find some common interests with other new students in their grades, and explain to them the various ways I am able to support them here at WCHE. It was fun for everyone.
I was also able to introduce myself to all of the kindergarten classes this week. We read a story about the job of a school counselor, and drew pictures showing how school counselors can support students. The students were also able to explore my classroom for the first time, and everyone is very excited to come back for their next lesson.
I am very excited to begin my guidance lesson rotations by grade starting in September. Every class in every grade will visit my class each month from September to May. That means that all students on campus will receive 9 guidance lessons on topics ranging from building positive friendships to goal setting. This is truly my favorite part of my job, and I can't wait to get started.
Please stay tuned to future posting in the Counselor's Corner to learn more about what's happening in the WCHE counseling program!
With warmest regards,
Dustin Boren, WCHE Counselor
Thank you, Cavaliers, for supporting our Tigers!
Our Lake Travis High School Cavalier Football Team makes a point of reaching out to support younger LTISD students. They make such a difference, and we are very appreciative! They read to our Tigers. They spend time with our Tigers and show interest in their projects and studies. They are such a positive force on and off the football field.
The Cavaliers supporting our Tigers last Friday are:
- #54, Leonardo Pietri
- #66, Carson Weikert
- #58, Michael Power
- #63, Carson Petro
- #45 Jackson Rodgers
- And with them, Coach Brian Milam
Thanks, Cavaliers! We are pulling for you, too, and wishing you the BEST season ever.
Discovery/Gifted & Talented Program Accepting Referrals
Through October 18
Attention LTISD Parents and Guardians,
The Discovery Program, otherwise known as Gifted and Talented, is now accepting parent referrals for GT Screening via this google form.
Transfer students, who were already identified as GT coming from their previous district, should submit their Google form as soon as possible, as the transfer student screening will be set within 30 days of the first day of school. Parents should send proof of their child's selection/participation in the previous GT program directly to the campus GT coordinator. See below for a campus contact list.
Parents can submit referrals for screening up until the end of the first 9 weeks, by October 18, 2024. Students in Grades 1-5 will be tested during the 2nd 9 weeks of instruction. If the referral and permission forms are not submitted by the deadline, the student will have to wait until next year's screening opportunity, as the spring screening session is only for students moving in new to the district after the fall testing window is closed.
Kindergarten students can be referred for GT testing beginning in January 2025. More details will be shared regarding this process at the end of the first semester.
The forms and further information about the program can be found here. A virtual Discovery Parent Information Meeting will be held September 27 at 11:30 am.
Once the request is submitted through the Google form, the campus GT coordinator will contact parents via email after October 18 to share pertinent information.
You are also welcome to contact our Tiger GT Teacher Erin Wyatt at any time with questions.
Dear Lake Travis ISD Staff and Parents/Guardians,
As a reminder, registration for our After School Fall Enrichment will open on Monday, August 19. Explore a wide array of class offerings designed to cater to various interests, spanning from Prekindergarten through high school. Our classes feature dedicated instruction after school from LTISD staff members and meticulously-selected contractors to ensure a rewarding and enjoyable experience for all participants.
Regular registration will be available through Sunday, September 8. Late registration will occur Monday, September 9 through Friday, September 13 and will incur a $35 fee. There are no registrations after September 13. To prioritize the safety of our campers, all rosters must be finalized in advance, enabling Community Programs to plan for staffing, allocate space, and procure supplies accordingly. Classes begin the week of September 30.
