A Voice for Students: Established during the 2019-2020 school year, the Student Board Trustee position acts as the voice of the CVUSD student population, providing honorary votes on motions and reports, while sitting alongside the District's elected trustees during regularly held Board of Education meetings. Since the launch of this position, six students have held this important role:
- Aidan Light, 2024-2025
- Naima Kahl, 2023-2024
- Gabby Lopez, 2022-2023
- Catherine Xu, 2021-2022
- Addie Craig, 2020-2021
- Jordan Scott, 2019-2020
Students are nominated and elected to serve in this role through their participation in the CVUSD Student District Advisory Committee (SDAC). SDAC is comprised of student representatives from all five CVUSD high schools. Click here to learn more about SDAC's mission and purpose. Student engagement is key to our District's success, and we are proud to have SDAC and a Student Board Trustee in the CVUSD.
*Important Note: If your child is currently enrolled in a CVUSD school, you do not need to complete the online Pre-Enroll process to go to the next grade level. All currently enrolled students will receive Annual Updates information prior to the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
In the Conejo Valley Unified School District we have a right fit for every student. For families who would like to enroll their student in a CVUSD school other than their assigned neighborhood school, this may be completed via the School Choice Application process.
👉 School Choice Applications may be submitted at any time between November 1, 2024 at 8am and Friday, January 31, 2025 at 11:59pm to be considered "on time" and to be included in the lottery process.
👉 The School Choice Application for the 2025-2026 school year is available for families to complete ONLINE HERE.

Hackathon Success: WHS & TOHS Students Earn Top Spots in VCOE Coding Competition
Congratulations to Westlake High School students: Dhilen, Ben and Kevin who earned first place in the 2025 Hackathon by the Sea, annual coding competition, hosted by the Ventura County Office of Education. Thousand Oaks High School students Thomas and Michael, along with peers from a neighboring District's high school, earned second place in the ingenuity driven competition.
Hackathon by the Sea is an annual in-person and online virtual event open to 9th-12th grade students in Ventura County. The goal of the event is to empower students by building their confidence in working with technology (computer science, robotics, etc.) as they team up with some of the brightest minds in Ventura County to design award-winning projects.
🥇 First Place - WHS: Team Westlake CS
Project: Rootify – an AI-powered 3d modeling system for farmers to help maximize crop yields and resource usage.
🥈 Second Place - TOHS & OPHS: Team Fsh
Project: Fsh – game where a fish flops its way into becoming a tasty meal.
Congratulations to our student awardees and all participants of this competition!
Congratulations to Benjamin Chung, Thousand Oaks High School 12th grade student, who was selected as a Regeneron Science Talent Search Top 300 Scholar. This marks the second consecutive year that a student enrolled in The Center for Advanced Studies and Research at Thousand Oaks High School earned this impressive distinction in the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors.
Benjamin’s Project Title is: The Synergistic Effect of Omega-3 Fatty Acids (DHA and EPA) and Zinc Picolinate on Traumatic Brain Injury in Galleria mellonella.
The top 300 scholars, including Benjamin, will be awarded $2,000 each and their schools, including Thousand Oaks High, will be awarded $2,000 each.
Selected from nearly 2,500 entrants, scholars were chosen based on their outstanding research, leadership skills, community involvement, commitment to academics, creativity in asking scientific questions and exceptional promise as STEM leaders demonstrated through the submission of their original, independent research projects, essays and recommendations.
