November
Volunteer of the Month

Swati Mehta is known at Spring Brook Elementary School not just as a familiar face but as someone who helps students and teachers alike. Because of her continued service as an active PTA and LMC volunteer, she is being honored as the November BMO Harris Bank District 204 Volunteer of the Month.
Swati has two children, a fourth grader at Spring Brook Elementary School and a Freshman at Neuqua Valley High School. For the past 23 years she has been working in the construction industry as a Project Management Professional and earned her bachelor’s degree in architecture.
Along with being a co-chair for Art Awareness and the Science Fair, she also volunteers for Field Day, Multicultural Night, Book Fairs, Jump Rope for Heart, the Spring Fling, and as a room parent. Every other Friday, Swati finds time to volunteer in the Spring Brook LMC.
Her nomination states, “Mrs. Swati Mehta’s contribution as a parent volunteer uplifts the Spring Brook and Gregory communities. For her leadership, innovation, and persistence in planning and executing in-school and extracurricular activities, she deserves recognition.”
When asked why she volunteers, Swati says it’s because it makes her learn to appreciate the little things and she sees the value and goodness of life. Volunteering gives her the opportunity to understand and listen to others. Volunteering in schools helps her get to know her children's teachers, school staff and neighbors in the community.
