NURSE NOTES
Viruses, Bacteria and Lice, oh my!
Yes, it’s that time of the year! GI issues, flu, strep, and lice. Please continue to keep your sick children at home especially those with lots of coughing, chest congestion, fever, sore throat, GI issues (esp diarrhea), and always check weekly for lice. Eek!
Please read the info below from the handbook-
HEALTH-RELATED MATTERS
Student Illness (All Grade Levels)
“When your child is ill, please contact the school to let us know he or she won’t be attending that day. It is important to remember that schools are required to exclude students with certain illnesses from school for periods of time as identified in state rules. For example, if your child has a fever over 100 degrees, he or she must stay out of school until fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications.
In addition, students with diarrheal illnesses must stay home until they are diarrhea free without diarrhea-suppressing medications for at least 24 hours.”
If they return to school too soon before they are feeling 100%, they usually have trouble focusing because they are tired, which affects their ability to concentrate, learn, and/or participate in class.
Thank you and remember the most important thing you can do is to always wash your hands and cover your coughs! And drink lots of water to stay hydrated!

Did You Know?
Dated health care appointment notes allow the school to mark your child present if they attended any part of the school day, such as before or after their appointment.
When students stay in school until 9:15 a.m. (Elementary) or 10:40 a.m. (Middle School), it ensures the school receives full funding for the day. Your support in ensuring your child’s attendance not only helps them academically, but also boosts the school’s success.
Thank you for partnering with us to provide the best educational experience for our students. For more information, please visit Important Attendance Information for Parents or view the Attendance Reminders for Elementary & Middle School flyer.
