Our fifth grade students started utilizing our new science lab this week for their daily science lessons with Mr. Stelle. A big thank you to the Aspen PFA for all their hard work to help create this innovative learning space for our students!

Each year our school develops the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). This document outlines our school’s goals and corresponding budgeted actions for the school year. A big thank you to our School Site Council for their work in developing our SPSA! The draft version of our school’s SPSA is now available here. The following guidelines will assist us in keeping our students safe in the parking lot:

• Proceed in the Aspen parking lot at no more than 5 miles per hour.
• Walk with your child across the parking lot using the marked crosswalk.
• Do not allow your child to walk unattended between cars.
• Stay in the right hand lane, move all the way forward, and drop your student off from the right side of the vehicle.
• Never leave your vehicle unattended in the drive-thru lanes.
• Follow the California Vehicle Code laws.
• Remind your child to respect people’s property.

Consider the following:

• You may pull up to the curb at the front of the school to drop off your student.
• You may park on the street on Oberlin or Marlowe and walk your student on campus.
• Please do not block driveways.
• Be mindful of labeled No Parking zones near the crosswalks.
• The gates at the front of the school will be open for entry and exit. There will not be access through the gate on Marlowe.
• Arrange with your student ahead of time a location for pickup.

If your child will not be in school, please call (805) 495-3130 and leave a message on the answering machine (include your child’s name, date of absence and reason for absence). If we do not hear from you by 9:00 a.m. on the day of the absence, you will receive a phone message and email to be sure your child is accounted for, as this is a safety issue. We must hear from the parent within 72 hours after the student returns to school in order to change the reason for an absence.

Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) is pleased to provide all students with a Chromebook through the District’s 1:1 Program. While at no cost to families, proper use and care of the Chromebook is the responsibility of the student and their parent/guardian. To support this program, CVUSD is offering Chromebook Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) program for parents to eliminate the concern and costs of repairing or replacing damaged, or stolen Chromebooks.

Want to send your student an extra special birthday wish?! Add their name to the Aspen Marquee outside the school office. Venmo $20 to @AspenElementaryPFA, then email student’s name and birthdate to aspenbirthdaygrams@gmail.com. October Birthdays are due Friday, 9/27. Birthday greetings will remain on the marquee for the month! All proceeds support Aspen PFA

The Oaks Mall is helping the Conejo Schools Foundation restock their warehouse with supplies for students in need! Consider giving a monetary donation to support local students, and you’ll also be able to help Aspen earn School Cents points! All donations are tax-deductible! Be sure to donate through the website below AND submit your receipt for the points!

Thank you to all the families that have joined Aspen PFA so far! We’re making great progress towards meeting our enrollment goal and we’re really pleased to see so many new families joining Aspen PFA and getting involved in our school community.
