US Capitol Field Trip
On Friday, December 6, students in the Honors NSL Government classes had the opportunity to visit the United States Capitol. The students braved the cold to get to the Visitor Center and gather at the South Theater Entrance to view the orientation film, "Out of Many, One" before lining up to begin their guided tour of the space where the legislative branch meets to debate and vote on bills! Students saw the original Supreme Court, walked through the old Senate, admired the art and architecture of the rotunda, and explored the statues lined up in the space where the House of Representatives first met. They even had to maintain quiet in a space because the current Senate was in session (on a Friday, no less!). All in all, students engaged in a wonderful review of how the first branch of government operates, and how it came to be.
