A Middle School Update
Dear Flynn Middle School Families,
Welcome to the new school year! Whether you are new to Flynn or returning, we are thrilled to have you as part of our community. We’re especially excited to welcome an additional teacher this year, Ms. Ashley Townsend, who will be joining us to teach social studies and health.
I’m also pleased to announce that Flynn will be implementing a state and nationally approved middle school health curriculum, which has been requested by both parents and students. This program will begin in the second semester, starting in January. You will have the opportunity to review all the materials beforehand, and students will need a signed permission slip from you to participate. More information will be provided as we get closer, but I wanted to give you an early heads-up.
Lastly, I want to share some changes we’ve made to the middle school dress code. After discussions with our middle school teachers and furthering conversations from last year’s student council, we’ve decided to make the dress code a bit less restrictive. In addition to the dress code from last year, students may now wear jeans (without holes) and Westy Futures, Westminster High School, or Flynn t-shirts or hoodies.
We’re looking forward to an exciting and successful school year ahead! We look forward to seeing you at our Open House from 2-4 on Monday, August 12th.
Warm regards,
Dr. Chism

WPS District Accountability Advisory Council
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,
Are you passionate about your student’s education and eager to represent your school? If so, we invite you to apply for the 2024-2025 WPS District Accountability Advisory Council (DAAC). This is your chance to dive deeper into the workings of our district, connect with district officials, share valuable information with your school community, and network with other engaged parents and community members.
Joining the WPS DAAC means you'll gain a comprehensive understanding of our District's mission, operations, and strategic priorities. This knowledge will empower you to be a more effective leader and advocate for your school. It’s an invaluable opportunity to make a real difference.
Applications are open now until August 25th at 11:59 pm. For new members, the first meeting will be on September 3rd. We are committed to ensuring every parent has the opportunity to engage with their school and district in meaningful ways. However, space is limited, so apply now.
