PaTTAN Family Resource Group

Thank you for enrolling in the PaTTAN Family Resource Group! We are so excited that you have joined our group for families with children within the school age system: kindergarten - graduation.

It is our goal to provide information and opportunities directly to families in order to support your child's success. You will receive updates from our list, several times a year, when events and resources are announced for families with children who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, or deaf-blind (DHH, BVI, DB).

We will also be connecting you with our Parent Consultants in your child's area of need. So, you may be hearing from them as well.

The PaTTAN website has events and trainings that are available for families (K-grad) to learn about the IEP process, best practices in education, and disability-specific supports. Their training calendar lists all upcoming sessions and dates. Click on a specific event to register. It is free to set up an account. Also, once you are in the training calendar, you can type in an area that interests you (deaf/hard of hearing, deaf-blind, blind/visually impaired, family engagement, etc.) and it will show you events that are related to those topics.

Those groups also have general information under their tabs. Click in the dark blue bar at the top for Family Information. Click Disabilities in the dark green bar (under the PaTTAN logo) for deaf/hard of hearing, deaf-blind, or blind/visually impaired. Click Supports in the dark green bar (under the PaTTAN logo) for Family Engagement and other areas.

EITA has created a padlet, like a virtual bulletin board, of resources and information for children who are deaf/hard of hearing and deaf-blind. In addition, they have resources for general supports for children with disabilities. You can move the grey bar across the bottom of the padlet to see all the categories and information.

The mission of the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN) is to support the efforts and initiatives of the Bureau of Special Education, and to build the capacity of local educational agencies to serve students who receive special education services.
