Viewing Report Cards and Progress Reports
An important piece in the family-school partnership is staying aware of student performance. It is requested that parents view and electronically sign progress reports and report cards. See the directions below, and be sure to get those signatures in! In addition, parents are encouraged to regularly view grades in Skyward.
Attention Kindergarten Parents
Texas Education Code (§38.003) mandates that all Kindergarten students be screened for dyslexia and related disorders no later than May 23, 2024. Prior to screening, all BCISD students receive instructional intervention through the Benchmark Phonics Program. Additionally, all elementary students have Response To Intervention (RTI) time built into their daily master schedules. The screening is designed to ensure that all students are appropriately screened, and if necessary, are evaluated further so that reading difficulties will be addressed in a timely manner. The results from the screening will be used to guide instruction at the classroom level, shared with you, and used to determine if additional interventions are required for your student.
Thank you,
Burnet Consolidated Independent School District

Please make sure students have the following items:
Students will need to be dressed in comfortable clothing and tennis shoes.
The classroom spirit stick is back! Each classroom has a designated field trip shirt color, and we would love for your child to wear that shirt on field day! This will allow classes to show their team spirit and add to their chance of winning a spirit stick for their classroom!
Parents / Guardians must check in at the Shady Grove Elementary front office before being allowed to join participants at the Student Activity Center.
*Parents who plan to sign their child out from the trip must notify the office when signing-in at the office on the day of the event. This information will be printed on the parent’s badge and will indicate to teachers that the child is cleared to leave with that adult. Teachers are not permitted to allow students to leave from the field trip with adults who do not have this information on their badge.
Field Day activities including a movie, snow cones and a sand pit, are scheduled for the full day. We encourage all students to remain in school for the full day.
Please contact Coach Yarborough with any questions!

End-of-Year Behavior Incentives!
The end of the year is an exciting time because summer is right around the corner! But we still have six weeks of school left and academic goals to meet! To help keep students focused and on track, teachers are recognizing hard work, on-task behavior, and good character with tickets! Tickets go in drawings for prizes! Let’s get to work! There are 29 prizes up for grabs (and one of those prizes is a Nintendo Switch)!
Leader of the Pack!
This student gave up a special spot in the classroom to help another student. We love & honor him for his selflessness! Way-to-go!!!
Academics + Character = SUCCESS
SGE is focusing on Habit 6 this six weeks!
SGE Attendance Tracking
SGE's ADA for this past week was 94.61%!
ADA stands for Average Daily Attendance and is defined as the total days of student attendance divided by the total days of instruction. "98 IS Great!", so 98% is our goal!

Notification of Student Absence
A parent must provide an explanation for any absence within 5 days of the student’s arrival or return to school. The student must submit a note signed by the parent. The campus may accept an email from the parent sent to the school’s attendance clerk, but reserves the right to require a written note. The form below will send an email to SGE's Attendance Clerk and then the campus will determine whether to classify the absence as excused or unexcused.
