🎒 5th Grade Orientation
We are thrilled to welcome our incoming 5th-grade students and their families to Golf Middle School! To help ensure a smooth and stress-free transition, we have planned an exceptional 5th Grade Orientation on Thursday, August 15, 2024, designed exclusively for our new 5th graders.
ORIENTATION SCHEDULE
- 9-10 a.m. Students and families will gather in the GMS gym. After introductions, teachers will take the students in smaller groups to explore their new classrooms while parents stay in the gym to learn more about Golf Middle School.
- 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Students and their families will reunite to practice locker combinations, walk through their schedules, and organize their lockers. This is an excellent opportunity for students to get familiar with their new environment without the presence of older peers. Please remember to bring school supplies!
ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
If you and your student cannot attend the orientation on Thursday morning, or if your student wishes to practice more, you can visit the school during the following times:
- Thursday, August 15: 4:30 - 6:00 PM (during the 6th, 7th, & 8th grade orientation)
- Friday, August 16: 9 - 10:30 a.m. (open to all grades)
- Monday, August 19: 3:30 - 4:30 PM (by appointment with Mrs. Raymundo)
We are here to support your student’s smooth transition to middle school and make their experience a positive one! For more information, visit our website or contact the office at (847) 965-3740.
📝 6th-7th Schedule Pick-Up & Locker Set-Up
We are excited to welcome our returning students and their families back to Golf Middle School for the 2024-25 school year. To ensure a smooth start, we have planned our Schedule Pick-up & Locker Set-Up event for grades 6-8 on Thursday, August 15, 2025, from 4:30-6 p.m.
During these sessions, students will have the opportunity to:
Pick up their schedules
Set up their lockers
Organize their school supplies
If you and your student cannot attend the orientation on Thursday evening or if your student wishes to practice more, you can visit the school on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Out of Town During Orientation?
If you cannot attend the event during the scheduled time, you and your student can visit GMS on Monday, August 19, 2024, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. This will be a self-guided opportunity to help students organize before the school year begins.
💻 Student Schedules Posted to Campus Portal
Student schedules are now available through the Campus Parent Portal and Campus Student Portal. If you require technical assistance, please contact the Golf67 Help Desk at help@golf67.net.
🏥 6th Grade Physicals and Immunizations
All incoming 6th-grade students must provide proof they have received a health examination, including proof of the immunizations against and screenings for preventable communicable diseases, as required by the Illinois Department of Public Health unless an exemption or extension applies. For more details and to access the necessary forms, check out our Health Requirements webpage to learn more.
📓 School Supplies
School supply lists are available on the GMS website. Students are expected to have school supplies with them by the first day of school. If a student runs out of a specific supply, a limited amount is available for purchase through the main office throughout the school year.
PE Uniforms AND Heartrate Monitor Straps
If you ordered a PE uniform or a heart rate monitor strap during online registration, students will receive these items from their PE teacher during the first few days of school.
⚽ 🏐 Cardinal Athletics: Important Information for Fall Sports
As the new school year kicks off, Cardinal Athletics is excited to announce the start of our fall sports season, featuring Girls Volleyball and Boys Soccer. Most of our sports are open to students in 7th (JV) and 8th (Varsity) grades, but we may extend opportunities to 6th graders depending on interest at the 7th and 8th-grade levels. These sports are a great way for students to stay active, build teamwork skills, and proudly represent our school.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT
If your student plans to try out for Girls Volleyball or Boys Soccer, they must have a current sports physical on file in the nurse’s office. Please do not wait—students cannot try out without meeting this requirement. Physicals are generally valid for one year and one day, so if your student has participated in sports, ensure their physical is still current.
Sign-ups for tryouts will occur at the start of the school year. We encourage all interested students to participate and show their Cardinal spirit!
