Mental Health Awareness Art Club Project
Through the generous donation from Donors Choose art club members designed and created mental health awareness t-shirts. As part of a Google teen mental health initiative, Donor Choice covered $500 worth of art supplies that support mental health issues. Art Club received silk screen printing supplies; such as screen frames, screen filler, fabric squeegee, set of fabric inks and tee shirts. This project allowed students to combine creativity with advocacy. Each T-shirt design was unique and represented the members artistic talent. This project ignited a spark of creativity as well as compassion that will have a lasting impact on each of the art club members.

Artistic Talent
Academy of Visual Arts High School Art Students from both West Seneca high schools to the annual Erie 1 Boces Art Challenge Competition. Students from all around WNY compete in this competition. Artists are challenged with a unique art prompt using their favorite art materials and are given two hours to turn their vision into a masterpiece. The result was nothing short of amazing! Our very own, Charles Burks, won first place. This is the second year in a row that a West Seneca student has placed in the competition, with a student winning second place last year. Congratulations to Charles, and to all students who participated in this fantastic event!
Brighten Someone's Day
We have the finest people in our Custodial Department! Often, they are called upon to clean up messes and handle things others would rather not. As you can imagine, their job can be difficult. It's the little things like this that makes their day. Instead of JUST leaving something to be cleaned up, this kind person showed their appreciation by adding a happy face. It made our Custodian, Mrs. Smith, smile and definitely brightened her day!
