Week of April 22nd
Message from Principal Drew...
We have 23 instructional days before final exams. This means that you have 23 more opportunities to prepare for a successful end to the school year. Students be sure to start reviewing keys vocabulary terms and major concepts now to give yourself the very best chance to perform at a high level on your final exams. Attendance and attention are critical to a strong finish as we near the end of the school year.
On Tuesday starting at 9:00 AM we will hold our mock crash event for all Juniors and Seniors. The purpose of this event is to demonstrate and reinforce to students the dangers of drinking and driving, especially as we approach the prom. The crash site will be staged in the back parking lot at PCHS off of Jimmy Hunter Drive and involve response teams from Hertford Fire Department, Perquimans County Sheriff's Office, Perquimans County Emergency Services, East Care air ambulance, PCHS Fire Tech students, and PCHS EMT students. Four students will portray the passengers in a vehicle that has been involved in an accident. Students will begin in the gym with a message from guest speaker Brad Hurdle and then move to the crash scene behind the gym. At the conclusion of the mock crash, students will have the opportunity to view the emergency response vehicles and learn more about their capabilities.
Good luck this Saturday to our Hunter Safety and Battle of the Books teams as they compete in their state championship events. Hunter Safety will be in Ellerbe, NC while the battle of the books team will be in Durham, NC. Good luck to all the participants.
We will hold our annual Penny Wars competition this week. The money collected will go to support our media center and the purchase of books. The winning teams will receive a field day. Only students in good standing will be able to attend the field day event for winners.
The final progress reports of the year will go home this Wednesday. Parents please review your child's progress report with them to make sure they are in a position to pass their classes at the end of the year. Progress reports will be distributed to students at school on Wednesday.

Chromebooks
All chromebooks should be fixed before testing next month. This will also help with the collection process after testing since we will be returning these devices in preparation of new chromebooks next year.
Students should report to the media center, during 2nd or 3rd period, if they have any of these issues:
Cracked screen
Missing keys/broken keyboard
Device will not power on
We will not fix cracked corners or missing bezels (cover for hinge).
Students that have personal stickers on their device must remove the stickers or they will be charged a $20.00 fee. They should go ahead and remove them.
Any student that does not turn in their device by the last day of school, may not receive a new one when we return in August.
Students who owe outstanding fees to the technology department, will also not be allowed to take new devices home. This can include lost chargers, personal sticker charges and damaged devices.
If you have any questions, please contact Roberta Heath, Digital Learning Coach at robertaheath@pqschools.org

On July 15, 2024, any Individual Student Reports for the 2021-22 school year will be deleted. Parents or guardians are encouraged to download Individual Student Reports to a personal device for historical purposes. If a copy of an Individual Student Report is needed after it has been removed, please contact the school.
