Principal Message
Dear Duniway Families,
Happy Friday and I hope you have enjoyed a good week. It was great to see everyone last night at our annual Back to School night. It was my first Back to School night at Duniway and I was blown away by the great turnout and the excitement and enthusiasm throughout the building. It is hard to believe we have nearly completed our first month of school and students were clearly thrilled to show you all their classrooms and introduce their teachers.
We also had our first whole school assembly this past Wednesday which was enjoyed by all. For our first assembly, we highlighted the theme of "Belonging" and our year long goal of ensuring that we are a strong and inclusive community and that everyone feels they belong at Duniway. The assembly MC's were 5th grade students Audrey Soots, Nina Varricchione, and Connor McCue and they did a great job. A number of 5th grade students shared quotes about belonging and Ms. Adams led the whole school on the piano in singing "Rainbow Connection." We will be holding school assemblies once a month on our early release Wednesdays and our next school assembly will be on Wednesday, October 23. Also, as you know, we are excited to welcome Cirque du Soleil performers to Duniway for a performance next Thursday, October 3 @ 1pm.
Again, it was great seeing so many of you last night and I hope you all enjoy a great weekend!
Sincerely,
John Melvin

Dogs and Pets at Duniway
Families, as a reminder, dogs and pets are not allowed on school grounds during school hours (including arrival and dismissal). If you have your pet with you around the school, please keep them tightly leashed and ensure that others can pass and freely enter and exit the school. Please keep in mind there are children and adults in our community who are not comfortable around dogs and we ask that you maintain awareness of this while at school. In addition, if you bring your dog to the Duniway grounds outside of school hours, please remember to clean up after them.

Box Tops for Education
Duniway families,
Our school is participating in Box Tops, which means that you can earn cash with the products you already buy to help our school get the supplies it needs.
Our goal is to earn $1,000 through Box Tops this year to help purchase Classroom Supplies.
Here's how you can help:
- If you haven't done so already, download the Box Tops app on your smartphone.
- Buy Box Tops products, scan your receipt with the Box Tops app within 14 days of purchase and earn for Sample Elementary School with every Box Tops product you buy.
- Refer your friends, family and other parents in the school to sign up for Box Tops. You'll earn Bonus Box Tops for our school when your referral scans their first receipt!
- Turn on notifications in your Box Tops app to get scan reminders and stay updated on special offers, new products and opportunities to earn for our school. Go to your Communications Settings by tapping on the person icon in the upper-right corner of the app.
If you shop online, you can earn with your digital or email receipt, too. Here's how!
Let's work together to give our students what they need to succeed — and see how much we can earn this year!
