Weekly Wildcat
September 8, 2023
Hello Sundance Families!
We had another great week filled with lots of learning, creativity, and fun! We ended the week with another Xploration session focused on art and PE. Here's a sneak peek of what's in store for our International Dot Day celebration. Dot Day falls on the 15th so send your child in polka dots. Please make sure to stop by our green screens near the front gate. Throughout the week, our Wildcats will engage in art activities, a STEM challenge, and read aloud connected to The Dot by Peter Reynolds. We hope your children will come home next week excited to tell you all about it.
Action Items (New Section!!):
- Pilot Process: The district is piloting two different TK comprehensive curricula and part of the pilot process is to seek parent input. If you are a TK parent who might be interested in coming to a meeting or two over the next month or so to review materials, please email me at rkatz@powayusd.com.
- School Site Council Meeting #1: Join us on 9/13 at 2:45pm via zoom for our first SSC meeting of the year! We will discuss our purpose as a SSC, bylaws, and determine roles of the SSC. Zoom ID: 777-979-0182 PW: SDES2021
Helpful Information (NEW):

- School Site: Congratulations to Merrick Rosales and Noelle Martin, our newest School Site Council members.
- Closed Campus: This is a friendly reminder that we are a closed campus. All parents must enter through the office door. Please do not enter through the main gates in the morning.
- Kinder Gate: Please make sure that after our TK/K students are dropped off in the morning, you exit the location since it is getting very congested. We also ask that families do not stand near the kinder yard as this is crowding the sidewalk.
- After School Pick Up: Students are expected to be picked up after school within 5 minutes of the bell ringing.
- Parking Lot Reminder: Only cars with handicap placards are allowed to park in those designated spots. Please have your placard displayed when using the spaces.
- Computers2Kids: The San Diego County Office of Education and Computers2Kids are hosting an event for families to purchase affordable computers on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at San Diego County Office of Education (6401 Linda Vista Road San Diego, CA 92111 - enter the drive thru on Via Las Cumbres).
